Who is this event for?

Who's the event for?

Me, for one. My friends, for several more.

This event is for players who like to make their own builds instead of just copying someone else's homework. This event is for players who want a campaign that respects their time instead of insulting their intelligence. This event is for players who want boss fights which are more than just gear checks. This event is for players who just want a change up of the standard game. This event is for players who wanted to play the Gauntlet stuff but missed their chance, or for whatever reason(s) don't want to play Hardcore SSF.

There are lots of people this event is for, but honestly I could probably summarize it as: the event is for the core audience of Path of Exile.

My friend, I am glad you are having fun. By the look of the numbers so far, you are clearly one of the few who enjoy it - and I am truly happy for you.

On another note, I consider myself a part of "the core audience of Path of Exile". I have played every league for the last 4 years at least grabbing 2.4k hours on Steam and I played even more on the stand alone client. I strongly disagree with your statement, I believe this event and in all honestly the decisions since PoE2 conflicting priorities came up have alienated a lot of the "core audience".

The essence of my post was to try to get the game team find a better design balance or at least do a better job at managing player expectations. They should simply market this as a Gauntlet event - which I always enjoy watching but not particularly playing. The disconnect for me personally came from the rupture between my expectation and the sad reality.
After getting 1 tapped by Izaro in 2nd lab while I am level 61 with 2.5k HP for the 4th time I simply considered this event not worth my time anymore (Yes I can gear better or simply play better but being stuck for 1s casting is a death sentence and in my humble opinion a mockery of overtunning. Please consider this just an example or the drop that filled the glass for me if u may)

I did read the whole post, but this part really needs responding to. If you're getting killed because your cast time is really slow and it's locking you down, isn't it sort of common sense that you should do something about that specific problem which is causing your character to die and fail content?

The game is doing everything it can to tell you where are the problems are, and you seem to be picking up on these cues. So why aren't you doing something about it? It's not a balance problem when you refuse to do anything to make your character better... I really don't think you're the target audience for this game if you refuse to learn, adapt and improve.

I'm sorry, but it's just not the game's job to become easier because you refuse to get better. Especially when we still have access to the keeper's mechanic, and therefore the Tree of Infinite Powercreep. Do you even have capped resistances? I did by the end of act two.

It's funny you say this.....when the data doesn't QUITE support it.

At the moment right now, there are over 20k players in Phrecia 2.0, with a 32k 24 hour peak.

Phrecia 1.0 after a week or two was already down well below 40k 24 hour peak.

That isn't him being "one of the few"......it's certainly lower (as difficulty and repeat events often do), but its still quite popular for an event.
Starting anew....with PoE 2

Comparing a week or two with 5 days after and 40k vs 20k not highlighting an obvious problem means there's some math not done right somewhere :)

I did try, I do have cast speed increase but the animation lock from spell echo makes me stay in place for 0.8s which is almost a death sentence. I barely get any casts off in P3 of the fight and if I were to replace spell echo with faster casting to solve the animation lock problem I would loose way too much dps.
Your question about resistances is irrelevant since it's the phys dmg from the autoattacks that get me. According to wiki, lvl 55 Izaro normal attack does 1315 dmg before mitigation - and if u add the what should be 40% extra dmg from enraged that should be a well under 2k hit and he hits harder than that plus I do have some amount of armor (not much but still 900 armor for a which to give me 30% phys dmg reduction at my lvl).
Yes if I played a 100% uptime skill like totems / brands the fight would have been done with already but no....I have to cast absolution for 0.74s.
Finally, I'm curios how many items u got to craft with the broken tree by lvl 61 from all the massive amount of wombgifts u got =))). Especially when ignoring the mechanic for most of the acts since it's not worth it early on.

I do feel like I'm trying to justify a bit too much while sounding a bit on the defensive. Clearly I can do things better and I have part of the guilt, I do not however accept the statement that this event is well balanced. Not in the campaign, not in the early maps, not mid maps, not juiced maps - not from a difficulty standpoint at least. It is not just a challenging fight that gives u satisfaction for success, it's a very unfair fight at any point in time (yes some builds are better than others at various content) I am reffering to the absolutely unskippable parts of progression

"The mechanic isn't worth doing, which is why I didn't do it, which is why I have terrible equipment." "Spell echo locks me in place, but I can't take off spell echo, which is why I'm locked in place."

Do you honestly not see that you're suffering from completely self-created problems? This isn't even stepping on a rake, this is stepping on a rake that you just dropped in front of yourself. I already had a 5L by level 60, and it came from the Keepers mechanic. I did my Cruel lab the second I got to Act 7 and could get the trials, and I'm pretty sure I didn't have to dodge a single one of Izaro's attacks playing as strike melee. As for "I lose too much DPS with faster casting..." lmao, even. Your DPS is zero if you're dead.

Also, just so you know for the future, Izaro does BASE physical damage but gains extra damage from various other mechanics such as lieutenants, essences, charge disruptors, fonts, and conduits so resistances are absolutely important if you've barely got enough health to beat unbuffed Izaro. But that's not even relevant; your problems all stem from your refusal to use the tools the game is providing you to improve. Instead, you want the game to make itself easier for you.

FWIW, it sounds like you're getting some really bad advice by listening to the wrong people.

The random mods in maps is brutal, doing T16's with 9k ES and 70% evasion and I get 1 shot almost every map. I wasted a hive boss because the mods added made it impossible to kill. Very frustrating and not fun please never do this again.

Yep +1, this whole event is a mess. They should have just done the normal game with phrecia stuff, which is what people were expecting to get.
They absolutely botched this event, on top of the lackluster league mechanic (Breach 3.0, because 2.0 was a long while back alongside the Abyss 2.0 rework).

Never again will I bother with an event that forces Gauntlet mechanics on players, when the only desire is to tinker with the new ascendancies once again.
Pointless to give triple-A game companies any sort of constructive criticism without getting put on probation (or banned). GGG's downfall is drawing near.
Got to 90 and both boxes and got garbage. And I still can't stand the idol system so that was an easy quit. Maybe if the boxes didnt give me garbage I could have stomach the idol system a bit better.

On top that the ascendency balance is still bad.

Take me back when poe was the actual focus.
