You don't need any armour or resistances if you know the game's mechanics.

My friend, the issue here isn't defense; nothing is being used for flat DPS. It's disgusting how easily the Arbiter dies like this. I don't even get that much DPS with my own character...

Exactly you hit the spot ! He is abusing the ice wall gem power damage in the video.

As you said any other stupid character with gears / criticals etc does not have that power of survivability and we never reach anything close to that damage unless you spend like 100000000 of divines on + gems level crazy gear.
Oh no no no no no no no no.....

Too late bro. The whole Monk class is programmed to be nerfed in 0.5.0. You can still have some fun until new patch comes but don't rely you build of what you learned so far.

This just goes to show how well balanced the game is, yet again. I don't recall in which interview exactly, But I remember when Mark or Jonathan said they had like 2 people doing balance? And only recently they're training 3 more or so?? I mean... it shows.

It might also show how weak the boss design is, but it's hard to tell when he does that much damage...

If beating bosses naked is "weak boss design" then every single Souls game has "weak boss design". I don't think many people will agree you on that.

Dark Soul is a mechanical skill oriented game

Path of Exile is a equipment and build oriented game

If the bosses can be trivialized by characters with literally no equipments, its either the build is broken OP or the bosses are too easy. For if this behavior is allowed then there would be zero point in farming and gearing your characters anymore. Just Lv1 0 equipment do everything.

Seems like both tbh.

Except the fact that what meaningful combat meant in context of PoE 2 was exactly mechanical combat.

The thread is hilarious, asking where is the meaningful combat while showing meaningful combat as meant by the devs.

Also that you can do SL1 run in Dark Souls, didn't result in people not farming and gearing there, so no there is no zero point in it, if this "behavior" (?) is allowed.

Not to mention there are still mobs to deal with, vid is only vs boss.

I don't think it's just about the palms of the hand. It shouldn't be possible to reach 1 million DPS just using the passive tree, or it should be achievable for every class. I have 40,000 damage with my level 85 Druid, man. LOL

Can you tell the difference between this video https://youtu.be/_tOfAdBvQRQ?si=ea6aqQ38THx8BgWh and the path of exile one?

It's disgusting you even try to make the comparison.

Here's more https://youtu.be/zODF0z471Xc?si=sDnXlijMN2x_Dn2g

So the way challenge runs work in souls games is you pick a challenge and you do the run. That challenge might be naked SL1 or it might have other rules you choose for yourself. The reason it is a challenge run is because it is in some way unusual or unexpected and you are showing people that it works or just proving to yourself you can do it.

This Arbiter fight was this person just showing off that they could beat the boss with no gear. They're still doing lots of damage because they didnt really put limits on their skill gems but they have to deal with mechanics. It's not really that impressive as far as souls challenge runs go but since you dont actually see very many POE challenge runs it's pretty cool.
The Arbiter boss fight is probably one of the worst designed fights in the game. They need to work on removing all the 1-shot nonsense that drives people to use pure DPS as a solution for everything.
It's been done at the lowest tier, you can see the unused boss tree points. Also build has like 20k dps which is shown at the end. Ask the dude to do it at strongest difficulty see how long he last or how many attempts before he get a good recording.

They introduced lower difficulty tiers for uber bosses so more builds can kill them. This video shows that it's working as intended.

This has nothing to do with defense, my friend. My level 85 Druid deals 40,000 damage. Did you watch the 28-30 second segment? He deals 1 million damage with a single move, just using the passive tree...
With the time you spent complaining, you could spend 15 seconds to see character of that person in that video description, and find out they using Hollow Palm Technique, which disable weapon usage and give you damage per level.

So this means they can't use weapon, and they have skills, supports and tree, their entire damage comes from level, skills and tree just like on any build that use Hollow Palm Technique, they need no weapon to do damage.

Something like this is possible with spells as well, because you don't need caster weapon to cast spells while it add a lot of damage.

And now you comparing their build to yours without knowing what their build even is at all.
