meaninful combat where? Is it possible to defeat an arbiter without equipping any items?

The only thing I took from it is that we do stupid amounts of damage which is already well known. Honestly I'd never seen his mechanics till recent because he dies instantly.

I don't exactly like the whole pure MMO style boss mechanics. I much prefer more dynamic mechanics where you have to read their next attack, kinda like Monster Hunter. The enemy has set attacks but you never quite know which combo they're going to use or in which order.

Bosses with very binary mechanics tend to bore me pretty quickly.

To be fair Arbiter does have one such attack, thats the one where he stabs the safe circle area just before the arena explodes, so you have to time right your dodge roll into the circle to avoid the damage.

Unfortunately, the big-buttocked bear's butt doesn't quite fit in the circle :D

Devil's advocate but this is exactly meaningful combat. Notice he did most of the mechanics. He did not 1 shot Arbiter from the intro phase.
Minions can also do this, although slower.

So you're saying it's logical to kill an arbiter in 1 minute and 50 seconds without using any items, flasks, charms, or jewels? Dude, a friend of mine who plays a Bear build only managed to kill it on his 12th attempt! :D

You don't know how many times he tried until a success story! These guys living from YouTube videos bro. But the problem is not the astonishing result of a naked char. The problem lies to balance.... A balance that never got fixed becouse Devs prefer new content rather than sit and work for balanced game. I have seen players killing bosses with in less than 3 sec with gear. So this video doesn't impressed me.
Skill issue as always....but i admit it's nice and meaningful fight. No cheating.
Meaningful Combat, and in the meantime every boss has unavoidable, undodgeable, and unblockable skills (each with at least 3–4 of them)... That's not meaningful combat, that's not an ARPG, and it's not fun that when I enter any boss with a character I've invested a massive amount of time into gearing with high eHP, there's still a risk of getting 1shot - even with 64k evasion, 40k deflection, a 5k HP/ES pool, and 50% evasion applying to elemental damage taken (pathfinder ascendancy). Bosses in this game are disgusting, completely devoid of any logic, and on top of that designed in such a way that after one failed attempt you never want to go back there again.

Please watch the video before answering. Are we playing the wrong game, or are they?

How is this even sensational. Dude just play an innately broken powerful build, so much so that he can not use any of the items and still have enough DPS to kill the boss?

Other than that, just dodge everything that can kill you.

Back in Poe1 we had players that did Uber Elder with lv 20 Ranger doing the same thing.

This just goes to show how well balanced the game is, yet again. I don't recall in which interview exactly, But I remember when Mark or Jonathan said they had like 2 people doing balance? And only recently they're training 3 more or so?? I mean... it shows.

It might also show how weak the boss design is, but it's hard to tell when he does that much damage...

I would call that meaningful and masterful. I don't see what there is to be upset about. Not only that. You have no idea how many attempts this guy failed.

What exactly was meaningful or masterful about what he did there?
