Announcing Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids
|
I agree that developing two games in parallel (PoE1 and PoE2) is negatively impacting the quality of content for both. This is no longer an assumption—it is a fact: the content we are receiving feels cut, diluted, and lacks overall cohesion.
Secondly, as a newer player, this is the first time I honestly don’t feel like logging in. The puzzle mechanics in the temple look unnecessarily complex, boring, and slow, and that is absolutely not what PoE 2 needs. Sadly. Logout. |

JFC, I am tired of all the shade being thrown at PoE2 / GGG for not doing EXACTLY what everyone thinks they should be doing right now in EA. I'm not one to usually post on forums or reply to all the keyboard warriors out there but it seems to me that not enough people remember who saved us from the nightmare of a dumpster-fire letdown that D3 was and what it was like to play PoE1 on EA release! Who remembers not having any end game AT ALL and doing ledge or dock runs to grind levels when there was only a few acts in the game just to experience all we could from a game obviously being made from a company that understood what we actually wanted and needed from this genre of game?!!!
Seems easy for people to sit back and criticize every single thing that isn't immediately being brought to fruition in PoE2 EA the way they want, but rarely see anybody pointing out how much GGG has done to give us an amazing experience over the past decade+. Not to mention the fact that PoE1 has ALWAYS been free to play with no pay to win & the $30 price point to enjoy the early access period of PoE2 is nominal in relation to how much content there is while GGG is consistently striving to meet as many rational expectations as possible. So for the crybabies in the forum here it is... - You want a faster play-style than what PoE2 offers? Then go play PoE1 and zoom zoom your heart out but quit crying about PoE2 not being the SAME EXACT GAME! GGG doesn't want PoE2 to be as fast as PoE1 so get over it. - You want a game that doesn't present difficulty challenges / thresholds which require you to use your brain in order to constantly theory craft on how to make your character's build excel, don't like learning critical game mechanics, or maybe the thought of using multiple skills in conjunction with one another is just too much? Then go play something more casual and quit trying to turn Path of Exile into a shallow ARPG! Pretty sure blizzard has you covered there... And as for some of the 0.4.0 content contention around here: - Gotta say, I'm loving all the "looks like this one's a skip" posts. I mean, if you aren't feeling the druid character or Fate of the Vaal mechanic then okay. Everything is subjective and just because it looks fun to me doesn't mean it needs to look fun to everyone else but I would say that your experience playing the content could be exponentially different than what your expectations are just from what you have been shown so far. So maybe give it a shot before being so fast to judge just from what you have seen. Also, a large majority of the point of doing EA is for GGG to get feedback from the players on the rollout of new content. So, don't be talking crap later on about content from this patch you don't like when you didn't play it & can't provide feedback on it. - Need a tissue because you are soaked to the bone from the tears for fear of losing an item on the new %50 chance double corruption mechanic. Well, I don't have one for you so I guess you are SoL. Or maybe you just don't use that mechanic if you are the type of person that is too scared to take a risk such as this in a video game. But, we call this risking the biscuit my friends. The crafting system in this game is sooooo deep and fun but in order to really get those top tier hits you gotta risk it sometimes. We call this FUN!! Is it gonna be tilting when you flip tails and lose that item... No doubt about it! But when you flip heads and hit that double corrupt mod for the OP item either for your build or for trade it's gonna feel GOOD BABY! I personally can't wait for more crafting mechanics! This is way too long but I'll end with this. If you think games as deep and complex as PoE1 & PoE2 are easy to continually push out content for and keep the game balanced with constant content additions and updates such as character additions, always changing massive passive trees, an absolutely massive selection of ever changing skill gems, ect... Think again. Seems easy for people to throw shade but you might not be so hasty if you knew the gravity of what it actually takes and the domino effect that is the result of even slight changes in a game like this. GGG seems like a solid company that legit cares to at least some extent about us as their community which has become more and more rare in the modern age of video games. I truly think the glass is half full (or more) in regards to PoE2 so far and I think GGG has been doing a bang up job for us so far. I am excited about what I have experienced so far and can't wait for the 0.4.0 content and beyond. Now let it rain down on me you haterade drinkers lol! |

" i counter-propose that we meld them into one stat. more light radius lets you see better .'. you find more loot let us become radiance itself | |
" I like your idea but i think the inverse would be better less light radius= higher rarity make it scale until you can't see anything anymore for max rarity maybe make it disable map after a certain threshold |

My first impression of the upcoming update is good:
-I like how combo based the druid is and I liked how the slower gameplay in the videos looked -the new league mechanic finally looks like a mechanic not focused on quick AoE clears, but with more interesting challenges like encountering bosses or smaller groups of strong monsters. -the room puzzle aspect looks interesting, it will be fun to explore the different rooms and think about how to puzzle them optimally -the reduced monster density is great My main negative impression is that the new crafting mechanics might be too random: e.g. double corrupting an item.
