Is PoE2 even PoE?

It's actually even funny that people even say the phrase "supporting the game" when they talk about purchases.....as if you aren't just simply buying a product. Are you "supporting" Hershey when you buy a chocolate bar from the store? Are you "supporting" the chinese restaurant you just bought dinner from last night? That's like the parody thinking straight out of the South Park episode where Stan moves to California, and everyone driving a Prius thinks they are above everyone else and saving the world.

It's hilarious how this mentality is formed. When you buy things, you aren't "supporting the development of PoE" in the way you people think, you are simply buying into a rather cheap tactic of re-charging you for the same game over and over and over again. It is merely a business plan that milks MORE money from the users than a single purchase price of a game does.


People have this misguided notion that they are somehow "donating money to a needy cause" when they purchase mtx or packs. Because they hope for things in the future. And ofc GGG as a company is going to encourage that thinking as much as they can because it makes people spend more. Reality: you are purchasing a product at that moment, you receive the product, and that's where your transaction ends. Like any and all transactions you do in your life for a product.

I bought $90 pack for 3.27 to literally SUPPORT the game, because I love the game that much? I have 635 spare coins I don't even use.

Yup my bad supporting the company with the game I love (Path of Exile ONE) through the thing that is literally called "Supporter Pack".

Just so that they can take that money to make another game that barely resembles Path of Exile ONE.

It's simply a betrayal to me and many other people like me. Simple as.

How hard is it for you to understand that, they took millions and millions of revenue from PoE1 supporters, funnel them to PoE2 (Now plays nothing like PoE1), while leaving us with a 11 month league, 2 half-baked league. Not even mention league quality have not been up to standard for year?

You seem confused about what you actually paid for. Buying these packs does not come with a promise that developers will tailor patches to your personal preferences. If they need to delay or adjust content for business or technical reasons, they can do so without your consent and without explaining themselves. You are a customer, not a co-developer, and buying MTX does not give you control over how the company spends this money.

They are called Supporter Packs because they literally fund the company. Unlike games sold for an upfront price or subscription models where developers get guaranteed revenue, a free-to-play game relies on ongoing MTX purchases to keep running. Your purchase helps the company continue development, but it does not give you control over patch timing or content decisions. You buy packs for the cosmetics, not because your money will make the game work your way. Thinking otherwise is a misunderstanding and a false expectation of what you have actually paid for.

For someone genuinely unhappy with the state of the game, claiming it has been bad for the last two leagues and on a downhill spiral since 3.15, it is a questionable habit to keep buying packs, even as late as the recent league. Spending money will not change release speed or put the game in a state you want it to be. If you’re genuinely unhappy with the game, which is fine, personally I think it is in one of its best states ever. Sure, some spots could use improvements, but overall it’s not as terrible as you make it. You’re not around long enough to truly compare the current state with how PoE has evolved over the years, but a good and healthy piece of advice would be to avoid spending money on something you don’t enjoy. Kind of common sense, really.

This is not GGG failing you, nor betraying you. They delivered a product while juggling two titles and continuously updating both. Feeling entitled to dictate exactly how your money, I mean their income, is used and how GGG is supposed to operate is a misunderstanding of what you’ve paid for and what was already delivered to you the moment you made the purchase.
