depends of how ez to get ingredients (bases/currency) for crafting.
1. EZ access to ingredients/currency = all in top-end items very fast, ie D3 will happened (hope with higher variety). 2. Hard to get = all top 1% will go in top end items farming 99.9% of currency ingame and other 99% of players will try get at least starting gear farming maps for 15 minutes for 1% of what top geared players do. Basically, it's bad in both scenarious, but especially in second, where craft is only available to minority. |

There would be no dopamine from hitting a craft, it would be a boring grind to get the currency

if you have enough currency it s almost deterministic.
it s more about time to acquire currencies, baseline power if crafting fail, and catchup mechanics (like trading). now if you really mean deterministic, it s almost the case with the crafting bench in poe 1 and nothing wrong with it (sometimes you have to reroll for a better value). unless you re a gambler addict. |

to me it wouldnt matter, why? because this is a small scale topic. and in the big scale picture your character is going to a worthless standard league in which your time, that character, may as well be deleted. so who cares...
I'd rather see 100% deterministic crafting but then bosses that many ppl couldnt beat, instead of ' watch me kill the hardest boss in 15 seconds ' but again.. in 3 months, your time invested equates to...? ( I hate modern ARPG loops if you can't tell ) why try to get perfect loot, or even all T1's when it all becomes meaningless....? I need meaningful reasons to play.... and if 'fun' is the reason, and if things get reset. why do they spend a buncha time nerfing items and ruining builds making the game less 'fun' all for the sake of balance... as if there is any competition aside from a fk'd up inflated 'currency' market. If yourself remaking the same class again and again. why do you do it? new league! make a titan! farm hundred of hours to become strong. having fun? too bad new league is coming in a couple weeks, still wanna play? no? new league! make another titan but now you have an idea on how to gear it faster. new league! make another fk'ing titan... it's like... why not just make 1 titan, and never make one again, and just respec and regear the 1 you have at level 100? then make every other class/ascendency to 100 and youll eventually have every option at 100 and can make anything. but instead nope! new league! make the same thing over n over n over, it gets fk'ing old... 'just play standard then' ya.. ok.. in the fk'd economy? and weird random items you can't get again because they were left over league modded n stuff? nahh you missin the point. arpg is suppose to just be for fun. it aint fun when BiS items can't be obtained, its just a game to farm items, so you can farm items faster... notice how the game as you get stronger, typcially you want to farm faster and faster, to the point your pc performance is taking hits on FPS trying to load these 'pretty graphics' and yet youre moving so fast you can't appreciate them? let alone all the effect going off like crazy you can't tell wtf is going on? how did they get to this point again? who knows? if it's all for 'fun' then why can't we have 100% deterministic crafting? especially when its all just going to become trash that youll have sitting on your acct in 3 months anyway I'd rather see 100% deterministic crafting, but have it be way more expensive to do... you know how fast and easy ppl were making near full t1 items? and it was cheap! then they sold it for high, rebought mats and did it again and again... these fk'ers, get this... why would you ever play the game to try to farm currency, when crafters can make 10-100x the profit in the same amt of time and just sit in hideout crafting? the ONLY reason at that point, is to get gold so they can trade, that's it. farm level 100? get best in slot gear? nah, why bother, way more effort and less money per hour... this game is fk'd right now. you looking forward to a new league because its a fresh economy? cause i know ppl aren't super eager to make another class of something they already have. 'gee, lets go make another titan' 'fun' wonder how long that will last, which is why many ppl quit. first few times/league learning is 'fun' but then all the limitations, the restrictions. all to have it thrown onto standard... its sad man... making builds awesome, making the super unique to you setups that only you have, awesome. getting loot to drop and feel like your working towards something awesome. crafting stuff, learning to craft, awesome. starting over? no reason to do it again and again and again? dealing with out of control economies? the best way to make money is just to craft? I thought this was all suppose to just be for fun... ya i got derailed, am pissed cause i wanted a forever arpg, no one can make it... theres one thing i wanted to highlight though. and thats all you efforts amount to nothing. SO 100% CRAFTING ??? WHY THE FK NOT ??? It's all suppose to just be for fun anyways, right? I obviously dont think its fun throwing out hundreds of hours, do you? |

POE1 harvest league gives some indication. Up to a certain level it is fine, a lot of players were happy with it at that level. At that level, I thought it was okay, but understand why some didn't. Full deterministic would be pretty bland I think. The randomness in the game is pretty important, I think the gameplay and build crafting would be missing something without random aspects in the game, such as with crafting. Too much randomness can also be bad though.

Personally I would say the market would crash, which I couldn't care less about, and the game would become much more fun for me.
But for the vast majority of fans of POE1/2 who have been completely immersed in RNG crafting and the gambling element, it's probably the end of the game for them. Ultimately it wouldn't make or break the game. It would just mean the game appeals to a different group of people. |
