Crafting is too strong and anti-fun. The best way to acquire gear should be to find it.

Ye, best gearing way should be loot and crafting should've been for 1 or 2 chase pieces to complete your build to be top tier.

However...

Considering good quality loot aint dropping...
It's insane how people in this community can't agree on anything. First people complain that crafting is pure RNG, now they complain that crafting is no longer RNG. I mean what do you want ffs? If can speak for myself I'm super happy that I can finaly acquire useful items without insane amout of currency.
No. Absolutely not.

If YOU don't want to craft then YOU can play that way. Nothing is stopping you.

Don't demand everyone should play the way YOU want to. I find nothing fun about waiting for drops instead of a combo of all three.

By your logic we need to remove trade as well since that makes the game too easy. You wanna play on some variance of SSF, you are free to do so.

Can't fault GGG for giving players what they've been begging for months for. Gimme a break.

It really is wild. What next? "Async trading has made the game too easy, please remove it."?

it's actually insane how people advocate to remove options from others when they can literally just not interact with it...

you know what is way more OP than any craft could ever be? TRADE

guess what? you can just not do that. play SSF, only sell to use currencies, whatever YOU IMPOSE on yourself to make the game fun for your taste.

but nah... might as well make the game worse for everyone for something you could just not engage with.

i would say crafting is almost non existent to 99% of players. If you played ssf you'll know there is almost zero chance to drop perfect exalt/get homo-omens. It's for party-players (rarity bots +party bonuses) and rmt teaming, casual player would never touch crafting.

This is one of the oldest things in the POE community. It doesn't matter if they play your OP build or not -- they don't want YOU to enjoy it.

It's a very conservative point of view. Like what I like or else.

You're just bad if you think it's not.
People are making 6 desired mod items, there are 1000s of videos around them.

I agree with OP, I LOVE the Abyss addition and that crafting, but the rest has killed a lot of the fun. The game is heavily dominated by hideout warriors. I really lack incentive to map when I can make 100 div easily sitting in menus crafting for a few hours but it gets kind of boring.

I think maybe trading should have some sort of limit, as in like Last Epoch where you have to 'map' and earn a type of exp and use that to be able to trade.

I don't think crafting should be nerfed, the concept of giving players something and taking it away never goes well (even though maybe it should be), but mapping and 'playing the game' needs to be balanced better to compete with just sitting crafting.

An exp system to earn to trade will at least keep crafting in line and make it more affordable for everyone to get into since it will keep profit crafting somewhat in check.

Crafters can still profit, but the casual players will be able to earn enough to get into it better and make their own gear.

In my opinion all they need to do to balance this out is allow for high ilvl rares to occasionally drop with t0 affixes which can't be crafted.

I did think this for a little bit but then it would have to be it can't be crafted on once it's dropped.
Otherwise we're just at exceptional bases which will be 20 div for the base that mainly only the crafters can afford and then they will craft on it and corner that market too.
Something like this is absolutely correct though, mapping/drops being far stronger than nerfing crafting is the route I'd like to go, especially T5 being buffed and only dropping T1/T2 mods (the amount of times I get a T5 item drop and it has some low T4 rolls) realistically idk what could be viable though.
I want to grind for gear as a drop not a crafting simulator.
I did a topic a long time ago related to Veiled bonus modifiers and how they would work pretty decent for dropped gear. You get 1.25x modifier on 1-3 rolls. Ironically Diablo 4 ended up doing something similar but badly. The point was to make the best gear a mixture of playing and crafting. It also had a Crucible style tree system that was a long term investment which you could reset & restart.

It used a similar system to item Tiers too but it was just iLvl instead.

I don't think abyss crafting will be staying for the next league (for now at least) It is way too powerful indeed, I don't think people actually left their hideout after they realized how powerful the crafting is. You could farm insane amount of currencies just by buying crafting currencies and craft high volume items.
