Problem is, you can't restart the fight at full health Vaal as with the bandits. He remains damaged. Starting the fight again requires resetting the whole pyramid and no, I don't have the self-discipline for that :)

Simple fix: put Vaal back at full health if you die.

That's the point of the OP.

I wonder why everyone is saying 'Just play it the hard way if you want to - impose restrictions on yourself'.

I don't want to play it the hard way. I want to cheese the boss fight if I can. And yet, being able to cheese the boss fight means it is 'too easy'.

I don't mind that it is too easy, it doesn't bother me. But I'm happy to admit that it is too easy, and if I were the game developers, I would change it.

The easiest fix is to remove the death penalty, and create a can't-rejoin-instance penalty instead. (Only on cruel and Merciless.)

This might annoy some people, but it would make lots of other people (who hate the death penalty) much happier.

Partying sucks if you die at the moment. If you're in a party where you are likely to die, then you should get out of that party. I don't know anyone who parties by dying a lot.

That's not a fix for parties, just solo.
