Vaal Oversoul - silly fight on softcore

Why don't you just try not cheesing him? Typically the only time Vaal is going to get you is on a desync slam.

If you have low physical resist then the falling boulders are pretty powerful, and pretty hard to predict.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Actually, you can see exactly where the next boulder is coming down - the smaller pebbles indicate it. Also, Granite Flask helps a lot.

The Vaal fight is really easy if you know the different attack patterns of the Oversoul. I didn't die there the last five times I fought there (1x merciless, 1x cruel, 3x normal) and I'm certainly not "pro" :)

I typically make a habit when playing softcore instead of hardcore, to not portal out of boss fights, even if I run out of flasks. I like to do it in one go.

There's just one problem I'm having with this. YOU chose to cheese out a fight, and then decided it's no challenge cause you cheesed out? It's also possible to make him spawn in at least one or 2 places where he can't hit you and keep spamming his attacks into walls and such.

I don't care tbh, been a long time since he killed me. I just find it annoying when people use cheap tactics and then complain how they're cheated of their satisfaction for victory. I would assume eventually all fights will have portals disabled, it really doesn't matter in the long run.

Come on now.
If something is made extremely easy for you to do and it's very beneficial to do so, you're probably going to do it.

What, you guys expect him to go his party, "Ok guys, Vaal just killed me, I'm going to sit back a let you guys take it from here. Also, the items, all yours. I died and don't deserve them" ??

Or if playing solo, "Gee, just died. Right, time to reset the instance and start all over again"

:-O
Slightly better HP regeneration on the Oversoul could be a nice idea. I'd hate a complete reset, though. It would be acceptable if after a complete reset of HP you wouldn't have to re-summon and wait for the thing to appear. That's a thing I really hate in Diablo III. Dying to an act boss and having to go through all that animation/ cinematic stuff or rather having to skip it.

I DID NOT KNOW THIS.

Thank you so much! :D This makes the fight so much less random!

Do you know how many people will bitch and quit over your suggested "improvement" because of one stupid person saying that VAAL is a silly fight?

If you make VAAL any harder to beat especially on Merciless you will have a lot outrage. There are a lot of people that think this game is impossible hard. I helped so many people out killing end bosses that I lost track.

GGG do yourself a favor do not overreact to suggestions and criticism on the forum. Go by your stats as a guidance.

You can predict everything, other than a sudden laser from across the room when he's off screen, which only ever happens when playing solo :/

Hey as long as we are talking about Vaal what is the pattern to make him easier to kill without snuffing it alot. That sucker one hits me for death... guess I have been too busy melee'ing his arse to notice a pattern :P

think like Muhammad Ali - float like a butterfly, sting like a bee :)

you need to dance around him, making him try to laser you. then - as he switches to the falling rocks/ice shards attack, or starts summoning minions - go in and do some damage.

now for the most important part: watch what he does while you hit him.

if he spins around and points the fork arm at you - run around him and hit him again after he fires the 3rd laser.

if he spins around the large-rock-thing arm - get out of there immediately, because he'll smash you.

repeat until he dies.

good luck :)

Well, tried to watch for the falling rocks with my second character to reach him. level 59, ~2500 ES.

Died and died and died to the rocks. Killed him after the 8th death or so.

I am squinting at the screen like hell but that dust is just too hard to see for me. When I do, still have difficulty predicting where exactly it is going to fall to be honest.

Running around like hell with QS flasks doesn't seem to help :P

Oh well, guess I got my confirmation that HC is not for me :)
