It is sad for sure. It could have been such a great ARPG but instead they made a an Xbox action style game. One good thing though is that GGG seems to have finally realized that PoE 1 is the much more popular game due to the success of Ziz's event.
They are finally starting to bring more PoE 1 systems into PoE 2 to try and get people to come back. Time will tell I guess, but there are a lot of fundamental design issues with PoE 2 that need to be fixed and I don't know if that's even possible at this point.
aaa lol? Dude look at player chart counts. POE2 yesterday had TWICE more players than POE1 at its peak this year on its league release.
Face this fact, POE2 is more popular by MEASURABLE means. Anything else is coping.
dont talk about numbers and coping if you dont know if chinese players are counted in or not.

"Popular?" Hyped, yes. Heavily promoted, absolutely. Popularity isn't how many people log in to try a hot, new thing for free that they would have had to pay for otherwise. Popularity is how long they hang around to play. I will be very interested to see what the Steam numbers look like in one week, in two weeks, and in a month. I expect to see a drop-off comparable to 0.2 ='[.]'=

And that's ok. I didn't find Path of Exile 1 to be my type of game, but I absolutely love Path of Exile 2.

You mean a drop that was exactly as POE1 drop this last season? Jsut look at the charts.. POE1 league drop was FASTER than 0.2 drop. Took 14 days for POE1 to lose 50% of its players this last season and took 16 days for 0.2 to do the same. Basically the same thing.

yeah true its a pretty normal thing. merc league was nothing special to stick around with much longer, in the end it was a lootbox in every map, nothing else. after 2 weeks you have seen everything, character progression is done. there is much more needed to keep players engaged in a league.

PoE1 and PoE2 do not have the same target audience.
Sadly, Jonathan still don't get it.

I love the slower clunkyer combat if you don't like it go back play poe1 it's still there don't try to make poe 2 into the copy of poe 1, sadly power creep get s to the endgame and you just screen clear boring type gameplay doesn't require any type of caution or focus i wish they toned down endgame mob numbers and made combat like in the campaign.

It's always funny on these forums watching 95% of the people defending poe2 be new players that have almost no experience with poe 1. They just have no idea what they are missing out on. Poe 2 has a lot going for it that is amazing but man there is soooo much potential for poe 2 if GGG would just get their head out of their stubborn ass and push the game even just slightly more towards poe 1
