We know how to make currency, young boy. We, adult people with a real life, just don't have the time to make 1K Divines.
As much as you like your ''I am a god behind the screen while PoE 2 is opened'', the game will be tuned down and casuals will have their chance. Why? Because this isn't 2015 and people will demand to be able to access content easily, and GGG will HAVE TO do it because this is a bussiness.
Go, my child, enjoy your imaginary superiority while you can.
This is a really tough concept for a lot of people. This is a business/product first and a video game second.
Which makes us customers first, gamers second.
Sometimes I wonder if GGG realizes this.
But it is also the primary reason I believe the XP loss will eventually bite them. It's consumer....unfriendly.
"Well you just want free levels or gear".
Free? No. Accessible? Yes.
They got a lot of normies with 0.1 and on the flip side, bad brand recognition with .2.
At some point they will have to concede to a wider audience if they want any measurable success.
I didn't play poe1 for more than 3 hours or so years ago.
In poe2, I have over 1,000.
At the end, I was gear locked. I could not progress without better gear that was way, WAY out of my price range.
If there were things I could have done to progress more, I don't know them.
And in those 1,000 hours, I never had a super unique drop.
No astra, no tabula, nothing on that level.
That shit is frustrating. Nothing build defining for me has ever dropped.
"Yeah you just want an easy game".
Time consuming isn't "hard".
Locking the really fun aspects behind something convoluted will eventually piss off most of your customers.
Even whales get bored.
I agree.
I also see a big problem in the ARPG genre in the last years: YouTubers and Streamers being ''the voice'' of stuff that the majority of players aren't asking for. Streamers want long chase for items and power, and why wouldn't they? I mean, they need people to be unable to reach the same so they can be seen as ''top players and streamers''.
Like you said, it isn't about hard or not, it is about how time consuming it is... without any guarantee of a good return for your time invested.
The biggest example, IMO, is Trial of Sekhemas. That's an activity that with a powerfull build you would take at least 20-30 mins clearing... and you might get no value out of it. I did countless Trials and the cashes were always bad! Time-Lost cashes aren't valuable because I still had to slam Exalts on them for the RNG, and spending probably months clearing a tedious activity just to get 1 or 2 jewels is just shameful designed. That is straight disrespect for the player, IMO.
I am sure GGG rushed PoE 2 (well, they have said it) and Tencent has a lot to do with that. It will take them maybe a year or 2 until they realize the mistakes they are making. And they will lose a lot of players in that process.
I think this game will keep the PoE 1 line, but will suffer a lot once those no-lifing the game have to start working or having real world activity.
This 100%

Wait... you guys run Trial of Sekhemas? Why not pay the couple currencies to just get a 30 sec boost through it like the rest of us?

There are items that only drop there. It isn't only about ascendancy, there are items locked behind it. Or that's what they say, because none of them ever dropped in my probably more than 200 runs since 0.1.

Man, be careful, these people REALLY don't like facts or logic. They're allergic to it.
That be true. Seems someone had a bad nerve.
Anyhoo, it is everyones personal preference WHERE you use your time.

It is. Just keep their incorrect facts to themselves. It's the whole reason things are the way they are.
