Insane amount of bots farming low level area's, please do something.

I saw the video, and that guy has admitted to using ISboxer, though he made a video of doing it legit for a single run. There was some guy here in Gen Disc that posted videos of himself multiboxing with ISboxer. He posted here for a week straight, bragging about using it. No one gave a shit.

Ya i saw it too, and now cant find it. Does he got banned, invastigated at least, or as usual did the topic just went to trash and nothing happened? :P

nGio, I think you took what I said the wrong way. I wasn't stating that they should encourage multiboxing, rather they should just not disallow it. I frankly have enough fun running around with a single character, but if someone wants to alt-tab themselves to death so be it. My point was directed towards the separation of Multiboxing and Botting/Key Forwarding. Seems from the thousands of threads that many assume one means the other, and they do not. You can bot with a single instance, you can manually run multiple instances. I was just trying to point out that because, as you say, of their limited man power, they need to have a way to tell the difference, IE, a warden or the like and a proper punishment when the culprits are found.

They will never have the money to stay ahead of the game though. The bot/multibox programmers will always be 1 step ahead, like steroids in sports. They have to flat out stop any form of multiboxing. Like I said before, if you want to control an entire party then go play Final Fantasy. This is not supposed to be that kind of game. If they wanted players to control an entire party then that would be built into the game. It is supposed to be control of ONE SINGLE EXILE. ARPG's are not console based party RPG's, for this very reason. If anyone has a problem with only having control over 1 char at a time, then there are tons of console games that are perfect for full party control. Action RPG and party controlled RPG are 2 completely different games, and it should stay that way.
the only chance against botting is some kind of player identification like credit card or similar. the game can still be free but you could ban players more effectively.

not a practical solution though.

age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
what about disallow trading in the first 5 levels? bots would have to drop items on the ground for transfering them to the master account.

nGio, you seem misguided. Money is not the key component of halting bots.. Nor is man-power.. It's simply a few well-planned concepts that elevate the symptoms and perhaps a warden-esque detection system, considering they have nothing right now and you can even use cheat-engine on this game without repercussion. This of course will not stop more 'advanced' bots such as color based, injection, or directx based.

Nor would disallowing multiboxing actually prevent multiboxing.
The only methods I can think of that they could use would be,

1. Have the application open a file for reading/writing. If the application fails to open the file because it is already open, then an instance of the application must already be running.

2. Use a named mutex. When starting the application, check to see if a mutex exists with a particular name. If it does, that means the application is already running.

Why these would not work against botters? Because they could use windows virtual servers for opening new instances without much of a difference. This would only affect non-botters & people using isboxer.

What I said about general chat is an objective fact. General chat serves no purpose unless you like pie vs cake, trolls and dumb questions like " how to I ID something?"

Or, perhaps, enjoy interesting discussions on the merits of various builds. I've had those in general chat in this game.

Why would you argue what I said? Oo
General chat in PoE is about as bad as any other game. Every on line game's general chat is pretty vile.

This just ain't so. PoE's general chat has had problems, but they've been pretty good about improving it, and it's noticably better this week than it was even a couple-few weeks ago. Also, I've seen lots of games which managed to make general chat pretty decent. DDO does. CoH did. Rift used to, and might again at some point.

Not every game is run by Blizzard.

Ban the PLAYERS who buy from bots. That's the best they can do, sadly I've never seen a company doing this to date.

Not seeing it and it not happening are not the same thing. Typically companies are reluctant to reveal the who, how and why of any banning event in order to maintain the "one step ahead" approach. If the information of how and why people are banned became public knowledge too fast it just gives the bots/hackers/scammers etc more time to find a work-around.

just implement a self-found league and u wont have any problems anymore with bots destroying economics. Even w/o Bots the Item-link spam in trade (when i enable it for curiosity) is disgusting me to hell. Seeing tons of linked uniques just kills any fun from the game. No one can feel the gladness and happieness about a unique drop when ure just able to buy a usually way better/optimized item in trade. Its the same with the d3 AH .- it just kills fun. When every drop i find is already out"performed" by items i can buy cheap -seriously, wheres the fun then in a game thats about getting/finding good drops? Let ppl who want trade, "play" in trade leage , but ppl who want to play the game - give them a self found leage. there are quite a lot of em who got the clue already that sf is the better way.

Why so many people mention ban this ban that. Why not make a game in a way that the RMT is largely unnecessary? Why RMT sites bot? Because they can sell the "products". There'll always be bots that are made just for levelling, but hey, those are mostly harmless I'd say. There will always be people that sell accounts, but again, mostly harmless from my point of view.

How's with the account selling btw, is that allowed?

But orb farmers are another thing. GGG, why do you think exalts can sell for 5-10$ a pop eh? Fuck me, that 1/3-2/3 of a damn monthly sub for an AAA MMO per 1 item o.O. It's money you could be getting (at least partly). On the other hand, this kind of price indicates that people want to play POE but they're frustrated (or I guess they wouldn't cough up the moneyz). Granted, that 5-10$ price I got was the product of 10 min of Googling so no idea if they actually sell for that much, but I guess listed prices would be lower if it didn't.

Give us permanent self-found with increased drop rates nao! /care if people bot by the thousands after that.
