Spend $30 this "expansion", no questions asked.
Is this guy advocating for putting patches behind paywalls, wtf ? How much have you contributed buddy ?

" More excuses not to support like others who share the same opinion. This "quality" content you and others demand/expect first to arrive or wait for may never come, because during times like these the choice was made to be "observers" and use the approach of "wait before you buy/support", which is completely fine, except you are still on these forums. I'm one of the last around here who depends/relies on new leagues/content (theme parks) for retention, which means GGG doesn't have to deliver these new leagues, because I play the game to compete with/against the community, which is on GGG to "challenge" it consistently through whatever gameplay, content, features, etc. When nothing happens, like no events or interest from GGG or the established PoE streamers to organize and promote competitive events, well that's rock bottom and thankfully GGG at least recognizes that to retain us rather than eventually lose us permanently after we've searched and eventually found the next best/alternative product. Players need to have a threshold, like to know specifically what that minimum "quality" content is for them, to know their specific expectations before they support, like what I suggested above given the state of the company and its past choices. This is the period when your support will matter the most for what more is to come for PoE1. I also look at past effort, like through Settlers the events that were happening lately. Example, Ben thankfully promoted and hosted a HC league (which helped him to maintain viewership) and prior to that there was the idols with different ascendancies. Overall, the company isn't as malicious or vile as some choose to believe, so they can justify (find more excuses) not to support. Paywall would allow us to be less dependent on whales and the most generous supporters and when everyone contributes their share GGG can do more with less support from each remaining PoE1 player. GGG will also adjust or evolve through time and experience. 3.26 will be a great time to feel like a more valued/appreciated supporter who's voice or vote will matter a lot more. " I've spent enough for my concience to be clear until 3023. I don't need excuses to not spend. I need reasons to spend, like every sane human being should. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

As someone who throws fistfuls of money at GGG at regular intervals, 1,000x no to paywalling patches.
I spend like a whale because the game is free and I love it so much. Nothing would make me stop playing (and paying) faster than new patches costing money. The support will come in because PoE is a beloved game with a fair F2P model, they have no need to build paywalls to squeeze the community. Souls along a conduit of blood, from one vessel to the next.

" Proved my point again. Why would any company with a primary goal to milk/siphon/take as much of your money initially would be inclined to continue working/producing/delivering to meet your future expectations when its bank balance is already secured until "3023" or should I say the previous owner when he choose to sell. Be thankful that money is never enough for a company, because it's not a person, it's a property/asset that now has a new owner/owners who're in the same position where the previous was during the early, "indie" years. Consistency of spending / support matters, especially on a F2P monetizing model. They already monetized the stash tabs and most already own more than enough MTX. PoE2 was already released that extended the life of the company, so again I'm asking you what GGG has left to do? Depend on the remaining "genuine" supporters who will be purchasing support packs solely for support and not for tabs/MTX or the whole community that will remain after they agree the leagues are worth $14.99-$19.99 for their retention duration? Look at the last supporter with their strict demand the game to remain completely F2P or they'll stop spending. There's countless of others who feel entitled like that, where they're ready to quit the game if X or Y or Z expectation/demand isn't met or what's happened in the past. Only with a paywall the true/last PoE enjoyers/supporters will remain and they'll receive a lot more, a better game that won't be degrading further with pay for advantage features. So many different currencies and new game designs so you need 30+ tabs to hoard items. What GGG can do beside adjusting/changing monetizing model is improve on efficiency (which going forward they will), where its less costly to do what they need to stay relevant, competing with everything else that will arrive late 2025 and beyond. $14.99-19.99 per PoE league or $24.99 for both PoE1 + PoE2 leagues will allow them to do a lot more, especially after they receive the data. " Except I did the same and you can see above my first blood $20 supporter pack was purchased in mid 2018, around four years later and it was around the time they introduced SSF and Delve. After 2011 I had multiple online games on my rotation, like Marvel Heroes Online, World of Warcraft, Counter Strike and other. What I'm trying to say is that the majority of the industry is made up from indie game devs like Chris, who depend on initial and quite generous support for their mediocre products at best and thankfully because GGG received it everything else was possible for the company to produce. You can blame corporate capitalism and lack of exp lead devs among other reasons why the industry isn't evolving at the similar pace to attract the most exp players to meet their minimum demand. My gaming resume surpasses most by far and if the majority of the market like me choose to spend $120 USD total on all new products that released after 2011 many would believe, well there's no gamers out there if our product isn't selling. Only realistic indie developers, those who're more aware what their product is worth among the rest will either choose to sell company shares instead of early access packs or release their games completely F2P for years like Chris choose to in the hope there's enough generous whales who would lift his indie/garage company to a point where his product would gain my attention and support. What I'm trying to say is whales do matter, because what whales do is give more lifelines and opportunities, which is why I'm thankful for the support of others, which lead to eventually support and participate in that same game others choose. The less money someone has each $ matters a lot more and because our lives do go by spend/support/invest it in the future that has yet to arrive. By choosing to stay on the side, to wait and be an observer it means you already have better things to do with your time than play PoE 3.26 and beyond. It means you've stopped caring for what you once did, where now it's irrelevant to you if there will be PoE in 2026 and beyond. You're spending on your future and that means you are more in control and less dependent on others for the life experience ahead. The support packs, especially the $60+ ones coming in 3.26 and beyond will have a lot more value for many reasons including the league launching during a summer season. Overall, if you're choosing to support there hasn't been a better period in the history of Path of Exile. I'm not playing any other game and because it's been like that for years now the choice its quite simple for me. Last edited by Kopogero#0635 on May 31, 2025, 8:31:38 AM

After the complete and utter fiasko of abandoning Poe1 development for 6 months and false promises, about poe1 and poe2 i will NEVER pay another dime to GGG.

" ...God forbid any other live service game after a decade stops its service for half a year (the entitlement). Not supporting a game you still care about, because obviously you're still frequenting these forums isn't going to benefit you or the company in anyway going forward and I explained why. PoE2 definitely impacted the development (live service) of PoE1 and my total PoE2 retention since early access launch it's around 3-4 weeks, which is my average retention per PoE1 leagues with exceptions when there's competitive events.
