A Simple Poll - Exp Loss on Death
" Because if it's hard, then there is "danger" in fighting the monsters and a reason to avoid hazards and avoid death, and lv 100 is therefore a significant achievement, and if it is not hard, the game is kind of pointless and won't hold anyone's attention long and therefore there will be no player base to speak of and then there will be no players/no money/no servers/no game? Also there is already a way to lessen exp loss by 75%. A quick google search can tell you that. In fact, I think this method should be removed from the game because it is unfair in my opinion. Just by this method existing and only some people knowing about it, it divides the player base into the "haves" and the "have nots." We already have that in real life, we don't need that in our games too. Games are supposed to be inherently fair, that is a significant part of their appeal, at least that's how I see it. I could be wrong though. Nobody is perfect. Love, Marshmallow Last edited by Marshmallow1983#1709 on May 22, 2025, 3:07:17 AM

" I don’t understand what you’re saying, because you can go to Alva and just read what kind of omens exist? Also, when people do a bit research and join a guild or join a discord or go to youtube or go to the wiki you can easily expand your knowledge about the game. |

you don't NEED to have lvl 100 on a character xp penalty makes it so that only strong builds can naturally achieve levels 98-100 and that makes it so that high levels are a badge and a reward for strong characters. If anything, I would go buff xp gains at level 95+ way. |

" Except for the fact that I can pay X Divine Orbs to someone selling an exp carry service, or join exp leech groups all day long and afk my way to lvl100. So no, lvl100 is not an achievement. Never was and never will be. |

Anyway, as me and many other people have said countless times:
Just make exp loss optional. If its just an on/off switch then all players will be happy. People who enjoy it can leave it on, and people who want to have fun in a videogame can disable it. Make it so characters with xp loss turned off don't show up on ladder if you have to, I really don't care. And neither do 99% of players care about this mystical ladder. That way the """challenge""" and """prestige""" of lvl100 remains for those 0.00001% on ladder. |

" That simply makes no sense. Level 100 is not mandatory and getting to lvl 92-95 is pretty much the same reward and extremely easy already. Making it optional per character doesnt make sense, we do not defend it being there because of the ladder or because we enjoy it. It's because lv100 is an extra mile you can run to if you want to, it is not a default goal. You also mentioned exp groups and that's a cool thing in poe1 that means you are good enough you have a lot of extra currency to be able to invest in that. Either way getting to 100 is optional and requires a challenge. A game is about overcoming a challenge, not getting every reward for granted or just tick a checkbox to bypass it... |

For the people wanting no penalty, just simply consider lv 90 the max level and then after that it's extra levels you optionally get if you overcome a challenge. As in other games where getting to max level is guaranteed for everyone but there is a different mechanic to give you a little bit of incremental power that you don't really need.
