A Simple Poll - Exp Loss on Death

There could be limited time exp gain buff after death to compensate the loss and encourage play more.
I hated the XP loss pre 0.2.0, felt it was way to punishing for a game that is essentially a seasonal game, but I understood the reasoning. I was thrilled when they announced the ability to retry maps until I saw how they implemented it. XP penalty is much much worse now. Under the right circumstances it is quite possible to lose 60% of a level, which at high levels completely erases hours of time.

Xp loss should be on map fail not death, or xp loss needs to be incremental based on remaining attempts. I think either of those would be ok.

If you're dying six times in an unjuiced map, you're either doing a map way above your level or you don't know how to use your character. In either case, EXP loss is not the issue.

Now outside of that scenario:

If you're below lvl 90 -> don't worry about EXP loss. You'll make up super fast.

If you're above lvl 90 and don't care about the ladder -> don't worry about EXP loss. Your leveling progression is concluded. Additional talent points will not make or break your build. Gear is what you should focus on for progression. You can already do any content in the game.

If you're above lvl 90 and do care about the ladder -> use Omen of Amelioration and "git gud" or stop caring about the ladder.

In none of those cases, EXP itself is the problem.

Nope.
Lvl 100 has always been intended for only best players, who are devoted to the game. It is more like an achievement, and is not supposed to be given to those who need to git gud. If you're not good enough, why would you be on equal level as people who can break the game with every class? The life doesn't work this way, sorry.
You all forget that nothing comes for free and to get the highest reward, you have to put lots of effort. Besides, you don't need to be lvl 100 to play the game smoothly. Like other players already said, lvl 90-95 is totally enough. Want lvl 100? So do earn it, instead of crying like spoiled brats expecting that everything will be given effortlessly. You keep dying? Well, looks like you're not good enough yet to get lvl 100.

Now hate me lol

No he doesn't

The grind for XP is already a slog in the 90s. It already makes no sense for a seasonal ARPG. If XP past lvl 90-92 is irrelevant, then you are admitting that XP loss at that level is also irrelevant and "earning" level 100 means absolutely nothing aside from inflated ego. The people who say the build is already completed have literally no legitimate reason to care one way or another if someone reaches 100 without sinking in 1000 hours because by their own admission those last skill points don't matter.

It's hilarious hearing people say you have to earn level 100 and it shouldn't come free, as if reaching 100 at the current XP gain can be done in 50 hours. I put 250 hours in my first character to reach 92. Nothing free about that. I didn't reach that level effortlessly.

It's also hilarious hearing people say just improve your gear around 90, as if crafting actually exists and you don't have to play a trade simulator to farm divines to eventually get top tier gear.

Tell me you literally didn't read any of my explanations of why EXP loss in its current form is necessary and why you shouldn't care past lvl 90, without telling me.

Yes, levels past 90 are just for ego. That's the entire point. Which is why harsh EXP loss is needed. Not everyone should get to 100 with mindless grinding. It makes perfect sense in a seasonal game. It's a competitive element. That's the entire purpose of having a ladder, ffs.

I'm done with you. If you refuse to read and comprehend then you shouldn't be part of the conversation.

I never understood why people keep insisting on wanting to reach level 100 when it gives them nothing and they obviously dont enjoy the grind.

You can do all content at 90. Why is it a problem that there are 10 more optional levels for those that play alot and either just enjoy grinding or want to compete in the ladder? All content in the game doesnt have to be for everyone. In Elden Ring do you sit and complain that you would need to farm runes for 9 years to reach level 999?

Its not good for the game if everything is just a participation trophy.

You can never understand, because you don't value time as highly as others. It's not about the level, it's about 1 death undoing hours/days of progress.
