I lost all my xp today to 1 shot bs.
I've lost so much faith.
Feels bad man
You lost courage if you die. I lost in 99,99% xp bar until reaching level 96. Imagine how i felt that moment?

The penalty is a joke until lv85. I can get there in 30h eez. And thats the level you can do a T4 Arbiter with.
Thats why nobody sees a need to cut the xp penalty, I guess.
What makes this game absolut garbage for me. I dont play a game, especially an arpg, if the hardest content is done. Period. What is so hard to understand about this?
Getting a temporalis now and do a map in 1min instead of 3?
Of course you need to get a temporalis that got duped or cheated however into the game. It is impossible to target farm that thing (for a regular healthy person).
Thats your game? Well, have fun. I guess we wont see again.
Most people don't get there in 35h and don't use meta op builds and meta op gear. Of course XP penalty is no big deal when you don't actually engage with the enemies

A lot of people complaining about xp loss lately and even more after patch 0.2.0 released. But the real problem is not the lost hours and effort by dying from one shot boss killings or killings by unfortunate and not noticeable ground effects.
What is difficult from Devs and most pro-players to understand is that for a common player reaching 100 level it is essential to complete the full points of passives that will boost significantly the already damaged build they play. So it's not a lost effort for reaching max level cap but instead a lost effort to strengthen their stats (gear, damage, etc).
I don't know if future ACTs bring more passive points but one is for sure, they can't all players be profi-players just by learning game mechanisms (gid gud) and this wouldn't bring more than 10% overall difference in their play that occupies 70-80% of Poe2 players.
In conclusion it would be essential to see more videos from Devs of how can someone increase survibility during a fight, correct gear combinations, builds and staff that make newbies and common players feel generally more powerful to a demanding play.
I recommend also all players stop hating each other for what others be or want or what they can't be as always will be a scaling about how good can someone be or become in future.
Focus on helping people that not understand the game mechanisms, make some item gifts to them by lowering a bit the trade prices, in practice help them leveling.
After all we all be part of this community and somewhere in the game we will meet for teaming.
Almost all builds should be pretty much completed and able to complete end game content by level 90. The entire point of this game (or at least 80% of it) is to make a unique build suited for your style of gameplay.
I disagree with you but I don't hate you. We both want the same thing buddy. Everyone to get along and to have fun :)

Im level 97 Infernalist minion build same char since started playing in January (6th)
600+ hours later:
Almost top gear (just missing mirror grade ventors rings)
19 minions + 10 SRS (Minions are not balanced in game correctly yet)
Clear mobs and bosses' no issue's
Didnt know who GGG was, havnt played an ARPG since Diablo 3 on release day.
Thats the background
2-3 hours playing = 1-2% (pausing, kids, wife etc)
I rarely die, once a month, game is boring as F&*% at higher levels IF you are trying to reach 100 with limited game play, no risks, no citadels, freakn minions get stuck to easily....
Use an OMEN sure still lose 2.5% = 2-3 hours playing (to others saying its not the time, sorry your wrong to me it is, time is the most valuable asset and to see accomplishments is how time is judged (what did you do at work today, you think you have a job if there are no milestones, progression or accomplishments, best you go touch grass), so to see nothing but a few items hurts normal casual gamers who pay for your ability to play this game how you like (MONEY = CASUALS, NO CASUALS = NO MONEY).
But what about POE 1 = GGG still a smaller dev after 14years, had to sell share to Tencent, how is that business model working for you. If casual's played POE 1 it would have been WoW in the ARPG space.
POE 2 did something special it actually made the company money because players like me and the other 40yo dads with $$$ started playing.
I gave GGG about $850 to show appreciation for helping me like ARPG's again. Give people there flowers while you can, point is that pays for someones wages, so you can play this game how you like.
Once you get over level 93 your build is almost there, level 95 is when i hit what i needed. But for anyone to say last 10 points or even last 2 points is useless.
You must play a different game.
My last 2 points i will get atleast 15% bonus damage (thats awesome).
Whats the point (some say)
Guess what; people play differently, stop living in echo chambers.
I only play other characters when i max out my main, every game from Diablo to LE. Thats when i really explore the game and builds and skills and test.
End
My day off time to log in and grind for a few hours.
Have fun ya crazy Exiles
P.S
I am a Dog and i will just drop my load and leave on to the next post

Well said. I'm in a similar boat, except when I max out I don't start a new character I continue on and try new skills.
Yes those last 10 skill points, even 5, do matter.
This is why I stop playing in the high 80s to early 90s. It's just a boring slog trying to reach those last 5-10 passives. End game gets old .
Started playing No Rest For The Wicked. That game seems like the Souls ARPG vision GGG wanted. Having a blast. Every encounter is meaningful. POE2 is stuck in-between 2 different genres and can't decide what it wants to be

Those 10 points??? For me every single passive point is valuable for skyrocketing the build I'm trying complete. In fact I'm minus 7 points back and hoping for getting them in future ACTs. Not that I'm not good now but in Endgame the small things make the huge difference.

Xp gain after reaching level 96 is more painful than xp loss. I played 6 maps in tier 15-17 and still being in 1% xp bar. Im guessing if i reach 97 how bad will be the situation.

The XP gain slog is like listening to the same song on a loop non stop. The XP loss is like mixing it up with a Nickelback song
