POE2 has strict Authoritarian Builds, diversity isn't possible BY DESIGN. RIP Buildcrafting.
" Yeah, I did the same. Did not watch a video. Just play the game and see what the game gives you. Ended up with almost exactly the same build everybody runs atm. Edit: the more I think about it... D3 had more new interaction implemented every season, this game has in total in the whole skilltree.. I mean, this game is new, ok. But the more I think about it. It is true. I never claimed those happy were players working for blizzard. I claimed that blizzard as a company is happy with the state of POE2 because they know it not a market threat.

" THe base of POE2 is 12y old. Its not new. Its badly eexecuted. |

" Builds need balance because there's trading in this game. I wouldn't mind removing trading and finally allowing a lot of things that we can't otherwise. But I am definitely the exception here. Last edited by vexorian#9572 on May 2, 2025, 4:40:10 AM

" You can remove trading easily. Click the SSF box. I am an avid SSF player but not a jerk to want to force that on everyone. I am ok being less powerful than the top trade league chars so long as I am actually viable. |

I agree that BUILD DIVERSITY is the SINGLE REASON people play this franchise.
I agree that POE2 currently has a dearth of viable builds outside of the "intended" routes. I have never traded in this game nor do I see the point in it. If there were PVP or something, then it would be necessary to balance things. There isn't, so there is no reason I see to even care to "balance" it outside of the whack-a-mole style nerfs needed to ENCOURAGE DIVERSITY by not making one thing feel obligatory. I actually enjoy having fewer drops as it is less tedious to sift through, and ideally would ENCOURAGE DIVERSITY by having one adapt to what drops, granting more of a roguelike experience. If they lose sight of the point, and favor "balance" over BUILD DIVERSITY, I for one will move on to another game. All of this said, I do think a great deal of this is just to get a good baseline while it's in beta. So much of the game is implemented well, and it is I would say superior to D4 for instance. I imagine more synergy will emerge as we move forward. Surely they wouldn't just make a cookie-cutter Diablo clone and sully their legacy. That would be lazy and sad. Fingers crossed! |

" It's unrealistic that GGG won't favor balance when whenever something broken appears, people immediately call for nerfs because, again, the game has a market system. Although it's fine if you don't want to use it, you not wanting to use it is not really relevant as it's a complete disconnected reality from the rest of the community who doesn't play SSF Don't get me wrong, I for one love build diversity and I too wish there weren't that many forced paths, but it's much easier to plan this way without having to worry about a patch breaking because a bunch of overpowered builds popped out of nowhere " Well, let me give you an extreme example: There's one item with 0,1% drop rate which is locked behind a boss that 99% of the builds would usually take a day to clear once after preparations and such. Think about something temporalis-like. What happens to this item is that there's not many in the market, obviously, but if you have a build that is extremely overpowered and can do this same content in 2 hours instead of a whole day, people will want to play that instead. This not only massively increases the availability of an item that was supposed to be extremely rare, but it also makes every other build obsolete in a vacuum that doesn't take into account personal fun There may not be many of those items right now, but taking a look at the design philosophy of poe2, we can assume there will be more in the future either locked behind a challenge like temporalis or just drop rate. Even if there aren't, you still have to balance for drops that aren't as rare but will be influenced by those build all the same Last edited by iHiems#0168 on May 2, 2025, 12:39:19 PM
