Build restrictiveness is TOO DAMN HIGH. Devs, PLEASE watch this video.

I skipped this league for this very reason - it's just not interesting to come up with a build. Wherever you look, there are restrictions, and after the 0.2 nerfs, there are even more of them.

To be clear - I looked at other people's builds on poe2.ninja, and if they are "cool builds" ... well ... I'll probably skip the next league too ...

Perhaps poopbutts2200 should have listen to the 40+ interviews where GGG clearly outlined what they vision was, how the gameplay should feel, and the overall direction POE 2 will be headed. They also broke down what target audience they wanted. Ill give you a quick break down

They did a bait and switch. POE2 was supposed to be a sequel (see the literal name of the flippin' game.

"

POE 1- for the 1 click builds that require 0 skill to play, so much loot you need to filter 99.99% of it, and just overall a game that requires barely any attention at all.

POE2 is one click annihilate 2 screens away or you cant finish the end game. In POE1 you can choose to play that build but there are a a large variety of builds that can finish the game. Hundreds of them.

"

POE 2- For those who like engaging combat, who want to grind for hours to get a halfway decent item, and for those who want a more mechanical base game.

This has been my ted talk.

POE2 combat is not engaging. Its tedious and boring. Hammering through dozens of white mobs at super slow speed to get to the boss isnt fun. Not having that experience? Then you are probably playing "The build" that is meta and clearing screens.

Ohhh no, I’m not falling for this trick again, clicking on a video made by someone called poopbutts. You’re very sneaky, sir.

They never did a bait and switch. They were clear for months before EA that this will be a completely different game that is trying to attract a different audience.

Bro you must be high or something. There are hundreds of builds right now. Stop watching streamers, go play a build, and try to figure how to make it work.

Im not playing a meta build and im clearing easily as fk

git gud scrub
My problems with the build creation are:

1:No life on tree means that ES is the ONLY way to gain decent amounts of EHP. LIFE HAS TO BE ON TREE FOR NON-ES BUILDS TO COMPETE

2:Conditional supports/conditional active skills do not give anywhere near enough in exchange for their downsides. We are talking 20/30 percent more but only on tuesdays supports. Those things should be 100% more for conditional supports. And on conditional actives it should be 4-10 times damage, because you are spending a lot of time meeting the condition when YOU COULD JUST USE THE SKILL TWICE.

3:Passive tree lacks a lot of offense options for certain skills, there are ZERO generic DoT options for instance.

A video from poopbutts2200: "I am not the target audience for PoE 2 (explaining my issues with the game)" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-R9clutdRVU

This actually needs to be addressed. What is your intention of this kind of design, GGG?

The guy didnt even show how dreadful the game is for a slow melee char.
Overall good points, I was just constantly telling to myself "god i'd wish he would show all these annoyances from a melee char's perspective".

Ranged chars blast and ignore most of the games mechanics already, AND STILL FIND IT ANNOYING.

Imagine charging your perfect strike when volatile plants are floating your way, its so bad.

Yes, game is not hard, its just annoying.

Do you know the site poe2.ninja? Among players who have reached level 95 - "Lightning Spear" is used by 71%.

I think this thread has gathered people who are able to assemble a build on their own. Could you show us your build? I think we'll have a good laugh.

P.S.
Hyperspacing#5593, I see you in many threads and your behavior is more like - "I'll go against the crowd, no matter what it takes". Come on dude! Aren't you a bit old for this shit? Okay, okay... Give me your build here and tell me about a couple of those hundred builds. Or get the fuck out of here!
Lotta excellent criticism, much of which I agree with.

It's weird the game gives players so much freedom to make decisions with their builds, while also constraining them to intended builds if they want to be effective or requiring an absurd amount of theorycrafting and game knowledge to dredge up out-of-the-box builds. All that freedom basically amounts to a potential for the player to make a plethora of bad decisions if they don't build the right way.

So essentially, as OP said, follow the build guide.

I'm enjoying PoE2 and I'm super hyped to see where it goes, but now "follow the build guide" is gonna be repeating in my head until I start feeling like I can get creative with my builds. We'll see what happens when all the weapons and classes are released, assuming they aren't just released with hundreds more constraining skills and supports intended to keep everything segregated.

POE was in development for like 6 years. Only at the end right before EA did they announce "Ahem its not a sequel anymore, sorry." That is what I call a bait and switch.

POE2 has lost 80% of its audience since EA launch. The moment diablo 5 comes out you will all jump ship to that game and it will leave 5% of its original player base. If GGG listens to you there wont be a product and in the meantime in a desperate attempt to move POE1 people to POE2 they will stop development of POE1 but that wont work because we already know.
