The New Reverb Is Horrible
The new reverb sounds horribly artificial- similar to what id expect from one of those cheesy equalizer presets on an early 90s ghetto blaster. It also cuts in and out randomly. Ill be keeping it disabled until the effect quality is vastly improved and actually works properly.
Voice audio is also severely muted as of the reverb patch, and disabling reverb plus raising dialogue volume to max has no effect on this. XP SP3 home 32bit e8400 (stock) gtx560 (stock) Xonar d2x IGN: KoTao

Let me add another vote for "the new reverb is terrible."
Reverb should only apply to places where you might expect reverb, such as in enclosed rooms. In the open fields it's very disconcerting. On top of that, the "Disable Reverb" check in the options doesn't work, much. It changes the quality of the reverb, but that's all. Fred |

Having the same "reverb trouble". Enable/disable doesn't work at all. And with this hollow sound the game is "unplayable"!!!! FYI The sound switched last night INGAME from "normal to hollow" by joining the "waterfall caves", not after a restart or reboot.

Very confused about this reaction! I'm wondering if a few of the reverb fixes did not get merged into the patch it should be pretty subtle in all areas, also the option to turn reverb on and off works for me :| so I really have no idea how this has happens.
Specifically in towns, you shouldn't really be able to tell there is reverb.... Ill look into this today. The audio guy.

Adding my 2cents. The latest patch reverb addition will not turn off for me; also, it sounds the same across environments, i.e., cave, forest, plain. Enjoy the game, like the free aspect of course, kind of unplayable with headset now though.

Nope from my end it is not like that at all, But it sounds exactly like a bug we had before the patch was released. It would be good if you post your hardware specs, this may be effecting it in some way.
Edit: It would be even more awesome if you could record the problem and put it up on youtube! The audio guy. Last edited by Andrew_GGG#1567 on May 12, 2013, 11:22:19 PM

Let's see. In my latest run but one, I had reverb turned off. It stayed off until I entered the Weaver's Cavern. I did not notice until I ported from there to the Forest Encampment, where Gruest and everything else sounded very sepulchral. It stayed that way for some time, in and out of the Cavern. I did not notice when it stopped.
I've gotten to be able to ignore it except when it suddenly appears. OS is Windows XP, SP3. Hardware is ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard, with built-in sound circuitry (Realtek AC97 with Realtek driver 5.10.0.5750 from 2004(!)) and video. Fred |

" The problems start once you push the secret relic that releases Vaal. Then it gets dark and you have reverb EVERYWHERE. It seems to be connected to the darkness somehow. When I killed Vaal, everything was back to normal. |
