Jamanra Has Too Much Life For Struggling Builds

Yeah I don't what to tell you, I just have not found any rares for my blue slot items... I just have had terrible luck with gloves, helmet, shield. And yeah, most of my junk is from act 1 or early act 2, and it's because I just haven't found anything on the ground or in shops that's better.

Sceptres are just impossible, I have seen and looted about 12 sceptres and they've all been trash, I check the vendors regularly every time I go back to town for sceptres, they are NEVER superior to what I have right now, which sounds ludicrous, but it's the truth.

I don't know what I'd replace it with even if I found a better weapon, like at this point it seriously feels like Necromancer is more like a bad Sorceress, but your spells can just be unavailable sometimes because the boss killed them. These minions are just junk...

And the Spirit thing is a huge problem too, I am STRUGGLING with spirit to have even more than like 4 minions at a time, you can see I have +spirit on chest AND on my wand and it's still not enough... there's just no items that roll with +spirit on them seemingly except chest, and sceptres, so it's basically a static resource that you can only get more of if you raise your gem levels to lower the reservation cost, and the scaling isn't great there anyway.

Actually, I will tell you ONE thing I have found tons of, I've found several rare bows, crossbows, and spears, and many hammers, and I have found several body pieces that are rare, so I am getting all those once in a while, they're just not useful to me.

I JUST killed jamanara as a similar build. 2 lvl 8 skele wars, 3x faridun blademasters. 800hp 200 shield 600 mana, MoM fight took a while but contagion and unearth did the job.
You need a better scepter, but honestly. Id throw in more support for your raging spirits. And solar orb is really good when jamanananara does the sand mechanic and summons mobs. You just place solar orbs at your feet (support with overabundance)

None of your skeletal summons can do any damage since you dont really have a scepter with anything on it. No damage mods, no speed mods, nothing, just a +1 mod. Its a level 3 scepter that is literally one level from leaving the first area in act I and you're still using it at the end of act II.

I just dont believe something wasnt found. What I think happened here, was it was ignored and you thought you could get away with it for too long, and now its too late to get a replacement.

Its the end of act II man. That scepter is level 3, its not even reasonable to still have after like level 8.

Id say for you to go back and farm zones. Act II deshar farm the two rare encounter/rares in the zone (reset the zone from path of mourning)

If you can on your tree, you need damage, none of the minion life nodes are doing ANYTHING for your minions. Something like this for now

Another farm spot for early gold, is Mausoleum of the Praetor the two rare chests, they are always on the border. Can kill Draven if you want as well.

Or you can trade if you have some spare exas.
Mash the clean
Like I said, I found plenty of sceptres, but most just had like +mana or something...

I am basically on the verge of just giving up and trying again next patch because I am sure they probably realize at this point what they did wrong since even the streamers are calling them out on this.

It sounds too like a lot of minion builds are just not even minion builds, they just run chaos damage until later then respec completely. But I don't wanna do that, I shouldn't have to do that either.

Also, interesting post, I bet it would have taken a while, I picked up the wrong spectres, and I don't have any more spectre gems, so my spectres are useless and I can't even use them.

I took the Eternal Knight guys from Act 1 since I thought they might be slow but strong, but then they ended up costing, amazingly, 110 spirit just to summon a single one and on top of that they do almost ZERO damage, they are completely nonthreatening.

Also, I only mostly took the HP nodes because there's revive speed over there and I need revive speed... I probably should have taken the left side of the tree to get to the reservation node up at the top of the tree faster but guess what, now I probably can't respec those nodes anyway because I spent most of my gold trying to gamble for a better sceptre.

By the way at this time of writing I have spent about 23 hours on this character alone and I've reached the town in Act 3. I beat Jamanra basically just by using Vitality + Clarity and simply outlasting him, but it was a completely miserable experience. Fighting a boss for 10 minutes isn't fun to me.
I had the exact same experience. Had to farm a bit, raise lightning_resist to outlast the boss and endure a 10-15 minutes horrid fight until the "thing" finally dies. Had to avoid X_times more every F*ing mechanics of the fight than most clueless lucky pricks downplaying this reality... Nonetheless, I was prepared for it, I KNEW it may end like this early on, and got over with it. Now it's Ok.

Casters can't get a x3 refresh dps bump just by rolling a good weapon. Base spell/minion damage is totally normalized and level-gated, most of your stuff must be on par to perform on par with current progress of campaign. Had the exact same problem on launch with sorceress (until it became godlike later on with good gear and enough points).

It's just basic math, it's just the same usual RNG problem in every game where difficulty progresses faster than good-enough gear is provided to you. Sadly, there's is no magical solution to that. If you mess RNG too much, you mess end game. And If you're too much artificially helped during campaign, when it stops you feel a heavy "withdrawal effect".

My Gear appears to be better than yours but regardless it took me 30 odd tries and 5 hours of changing things around, refarming areas etc to kill Jamanra. I am now stuck on Vipe in Act 3.

Switch to Huntress and its been a lot easier.

However I was lucky. I found a Unique Helm that I did not need and sold it for 35 Alc's so had the currency to forge many sceptres and armour items to get som better gear.
I agree with OP. Jamanra is nuts. I got hard walled in the ends of acts 2 and 5, and had to go back and farm for a bit. The rest of the campaign was a lot more cruisey. This is in SSF.
Oh, I just tried a level 9 sceptre I had laying around, but I still can only have 2 skeleton warriors out with my crappy spirit... for a total of, 1 arsonist, 2 warriors, and 1 frost skelly.

And I lose the +1 minions which means I actually lose like 100 damage on my frost bombs and explosive demise.

So no, 'just' getting stronger warriors doesn't help me all that much unless I am really expected to rely on these weak minions to actually do damage, and the bonuses that rely on presence are just awful because it means I have to be right next to my minions all the time.

And we're back to this conversation where like, well okay just go stand next to your minions for the entire game. Just use your skills of positioning to always keep them close to you while still casting spells constantly like any normal Sorceress type mage class, while also having your spells taken away from you randomly when your minions die, and still having less damage than any dedicated mage anyway!

I just don't see it, like I am sure minion builds were 'horrifyingly OP' (read: they were playable) before 0.2 but this is just atrocious. And compared to POE1... just, wow.

What I can see in this video:

- Literally no mana reg at all. You regenerate like 0,5 mana per second
- No or very low Lightning Res., that's why you take so much damage from him
- No damage at all. You have a wild mix of minions, sun orb, Unearth

Use clarity for some mana reg and maybe respec and focus on certain passives that increase your main damage source. If you get some lightning res., you can literally face tank him most of the time.
Bosses cannot be balanced around bad builds, otherwise they might as well just fall over the second you engage them, like in any other game of this type in existence.
