I have been enjoying the game but not as much as I was before the 0.2 changes.
At least they've fixed some issues since the initial patch but to me, something is fundamentally going wrong. Nerfing all the great epic end game unique makes it that there is no real reason to even beat pinnacle content. The epic items such as ingenuity made this game incredibly addicting because it was something you would be looking for. It was really feeling like Diablo II. Yes there was some balance needed but destroying all the fun items kills end game for me. I don't even know what's the point of grinding end game tbh if you cannot become powerful after you put work into the game. I've reduced my gameplay time by 90 % lately to be able to still enjoy the game a little. |

" Yep, the itemization is key When they fix uniques, it would be nice if they could follow in Diablo II's footsteps and not gate all of them behind the pinnacle bosses. Far as I can remember, the only drops that were gated like that were torches, annihilus, and maybe a couple other things. You could get HOZ, Shako, high runes, etc from basic levels in the game. These items didn't come with significant drawbacks, they were just good items. Seriously a page that GGG needs to take from old-Blizzard's books because the items in POE2 are undesirable basically across the board for anything other than twink levelling |

I have to admit, I have never made it to the endgame. I'm a casual and I don't have the time or the patience to reach the so called "Pinnacle" of the end game. What I do, is make it to the point where I see the ridiculously crappy loot as I progress through the campaign that proceeding any further feels futile, especially with the crappy drops that certain characters experience.
It's not the same on every character, and I have a lot of alts that I run through the campaigns seeking to build the bankroll to twink the other toons that have been victims of the RNG devils. I have to admit, that the Huntress is the strongest class to date in POE 2e, the the Twister Barrage mechanic is great fun, but the loot is lacking. The spirit animal chase is a waste of time. Killing 50 trash mobs that take five minutes should be more rewarding that a blue junk drop and a Scroll of Wisdom or two. As a former software engineer, I know for a fact that this loot issue is all tweakable by manipulating the database, and it appears to me that GGG is doing this occasionally unbeknownst to the players. You just get lucky when they do something, and then lament when it gets rolled back on the server end. It all feels like they are directing an AI coder to make the changes, but nobody is testing. They have great combat routines which is a sound framework, but the balance is broken and causes lackluster satisfaction in the player base. Instead of GGG it should be Grinding for Gear Games, which is what it is in the first place, so they need to make it feel rewarding, which it is not in the games current form. Rarity has been nerfed drastically, no wonder people are tired of the waste of time and energy of us Hamster on the Wheel, feeding millions of bit of data to the servers every second, but who is actually looking at it? Tencent? DeepSeek? AI creation X? Who knows, maybe AI is playtesting POE2, after being fed all of our data. Data overload, overwhelming complexity etc. |

" Too bad you never made it to the pinnacle of the endgame in both 0.1 and 0.2 to see where the actual biggest f-up happened. Let me describe it for you in short and then go into detail further if you are interested: pinnacle endgame in 0.1: existed pinnacle endgame in 0.2: doesnt 0.1 had tons of builds working up until pinnacle, through investment of dozens if not hundreds of div they had good clear speed for maps and could take on bosses. Granted, the bosses were too ez even on T4. That needed to change. What didnt need to change was the entire rest of the game. Maps and hundreds of trash mobs are not there to be challenging at all times but somehow thats their "vision"....and it feels like a slog to the players and nothing else. It already impeded farming by multiple magnitudes (the nerfs to the skills and damage I mean) but then they went further to cripple the passive tree (removal of 12 jewel slots making all unique jewels effectively unusable) and all other endgame items were overnerfed: - Temporalis going from -4 to -2 (where -3 is needed for a perma blink build which is the sole reason for anyone to get this item as its the hardest to get in the game) - Against the Darkness radius went down when already its best jewel slot was taken away. - Grand Spectrum jewels only are usable if you equip 3 of them. Since it is now simply not worth it to get to 3 jewel slots on the tree (you have to branch off way too hard and give up too much of your vital nodes) it is useless as well. All 3 of the above items were drops from Zarokh the Eternal from Trial of Sekhemas which means in short: No incentive to ever do Trials anymore as these items neither sell well nor do they provide a powerup for yourself. Useless content now. - Ingenuity going from 80% to having two modifiers for left and right ring and 30% (not only does this immediately exclude the new third ring slot for ritualist, 30% is also simply not worth it. Should have stayed one mod for all rings, including third ring from ritualist and went to like 45%. This would make it not alternativeless but still make it a strong option) Since this was the only good drop from the King of the Mists->Rituals are useless content now apart from the Omens. - Adorned Diamond gives up to 100% buff to all corrupted magic jewels you equipped. In 0.1 that was amazing as you could have many of those. Now you are lucky to have 2-3. Another basically dead item. Since this was the only good drop from the Trialmaster, farming him became useless. That in turn also invalidated the Fate items: In 0.1 these went for 1/3-1/2 div on currency exchange, making Trials of Chaos a really nice currency farming spot (Soul Cores also nice for selling). Now they are at 4-15 exalts where a div is over 100 ex already. Another completely dead content now. - Heroic Tragedy (Olroth) has its best jewel slot removed and additionally Queen of the Forest was nerfhammered to death for most classes. This gem together with this armor was the star of movement speed builds and worth around 40 div which gave a huge incentive to farm expedition logbooks. Since this was the only good drop from Olroth, farming expeditions became useless. Another completely dead endgame content. - Hands of Wisdom and Action (HoWA) gloves were nerfed and in addition the builds it was used in were absolutely hammered as well (Invoker variants). Since this was the only good drop from "Xesht, we that are one", doing breaches became useless. In addition the density of monsters, drop rates and effects of breach rings was nerfed, making normal breaches useless as well. Another dead and pointless endgame mechanic. - Morior Invictus armor seemingly got a buff! 3 affixes instead of 2! But wait....they took its best affixes out of the pool. So nerfhammered to death. Since this was one of the two good drops from Arbiter of ash (other one being Prism of Belief jewel which is the only good jewel left), farming Arbiter and in turn citadels became not entirely pointless but definitely less tempting. By the overall nerf of drop rates, all this endgame content already took a huge hit (citadels barely drop more than 1 fragment now when you could GUARANTEE 3 in 0.1 with a juiced map). So again to summarize: They took the ok-ish working endgame content from 0.1 and instead of giving more incentive to farm it, they absolutely murdered each and any reward any of these mechanics gave us and killed all builds that used them in 0.2. And apparently that is nowadays called a "vision".... To be honest as I write this up, this might be the single biggest suicide of an ARPG I might have ever seen in my life. Like I was there at D2 and D3 release. The games were awful on release (hell D3 was terrible in May 2012...) but got better over time (LoD saved D2 and D3 picked up some momentum during seasons 1-4 with additions of sets, ancient items, cube, gems, etc.). None of these games murdered everything that was fun and possible for the players and replaced it with NOTHING. Only PoE2 managed to do that... |

People defend GGG like they are being paid for it . Game is bad. No tink no fun period . There is no loot . I dont want to be dropping scrolls and augments on t16 maps . I dont even get enough exalts to slam the loot i pick up , which is 50% of the crafting there is . Cant expect anyone to play anything other than Lightning Spear when its the most viable option. Other builds should be brought up to its power level , nerfing it wont do anything but taking away the little fun players have . Also using it is quite a justified response when you get 10 different projectiles coming at you from offscreen , 5 different on death effects under you , 3 different melee monsters constantly jumping at you at the speed of light , 3 others stunning , freezing and poisoning you . Of course you want a one click whole screen clear . Maps should be about zooming and getting loot explosions . Big dopamine . Simple . Keep the " meaningful combat " to bosses . League mechanics are in the gutter , breach is so nerfed i cant even comprehend. It used to be the most fun thing to do and now you can be happy with your 5 splinters . Further on that there is no real speccing into league mechanics . Why ? Literally the only nodes you can feel are the shrine nodes which doesnt even matter when you are running a decent build .
