I don’t want to start any unnecessary arguments, but I have to admit I’m really excited about Last Epoch on the 17th.
GGG is heading in a direction where everything has a downside, everything is punishing, and the entire experience seems to revolve around frustration. It feels off… I’m a veteran Souls-like player — I even run a YouTube channel (Buenos Play) doing platinum runs and all that — but a lot of what happens in that genre just doesn’t translate well into Path of Exile.
If something works, GGG just breaks it and turns it into garbage. If something is fun, they make it frustrating. If a skill is bad, MAYBE it gets a buff. If the campaign is boring, slow, and frustrating, the excuse is always “that’s how it’s meant to be” and “it’s part of the vision.” And sure, I understand the importance of having a vision and sticking to a scope — otherwise it becomes a mess — but at the end of the day, this is a game, and it’s supposed to be fun.
Back to Last Epoch and why I’m excited:
If something works, they don’t throw it in the trash — they just tone down what’s clearly broken
They actually buff underused skills
They add mechanics that reward players, especially those who don’t want to engage in trading
There’s an automated Auction House, which improves the experience for people who do enjoy trading — unlike PoE where bots are everywhere
And so many other things…

Am I having fun this season?
It was OK for me until Act 3 (normal)
But Past Utzaal was 3 steps forward 2 steps back,
slow...
getting ambushed by a whole lot of mobs,
back to waypoint...
trying again
After the 3rd time dead I realized I'd rather play PoE1

After using recombinator, after running simulacrum, after buying perfect jewellers for 3 div, I spit on this game. it just wants me to grind, grind, grind.

Nope. Not even for five minutes. In fact the game didn't even let me play that long. I started a new char, took one screenshot in game and the servers dropped me. I wont bother playing after that. Why would I spend time when their own servers dont bother. Its a game that should have offline mode but everything about this game is backwards right now. Barely anything is reasonably functional and the servers make any progress they make moot since lag spikes kill you or drop you wiping out your map progress or resetting some of your campaign progress. Right now I can't play at all as servers dont let you.
I have never been this disappointed in a game in my life. I had huge hopes for a great ARPG but I would rather sleep than waste time on whatever this is

100% the souls genre doesn't translate at all. And additionally people in ARPG community act like souls like games do not get blasted through by a good majority of players! They absolutely do...but the acceptable meta the community has agreed upon is to give more props to players who give themselves more of a challenge. ARPG players do not care about this lol

Sorry, but I'm not having fun. I'm playing a Witch Lich and trying to force minions feels like an exercise in futility. I love minions and wanted to take her to 100 this season, and it's something I should have done last season.
I don't know what to say other than it feels bad. I die a lot more and a lot of the deaths have to do with the way monsters act and react. I feel like I get micro-stunned a lot and I feel like I get swarmed and killed a lot. I also feel like my minions are made of paper and die to the stiffest of breezes, even with significant investment in the tree into their and my survival.
Sorry, I don't want to play any more this season because the gameplay loop isn't as fun as last season. The end-game changes are very good. I wish I had them last season.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like the game has gotten really tedious. There’s clearly something off—it feels weird and definitely different from how it was in 0.1.
I had a lot of fun in 0.1 playing a bunch of different classes, even the ones that were pretty bad compared to the top tiers. I played a ton with Witch Blood and Witch Hunter, and I also tried out a Deadeye and a Monk.
I hate repeating the campaign—it honestly gives me anxiety—but even so, I ran it multiple times back then because it was actually fun. There was a really cool flow to it, and reaching endgame felt rewarding. That’s definitely not the case in 0.2.
This time around, I dragged myself through the campaign. It took me two and a half days to finish it, and by the time I was done, I was already burned out. Still, I decided to give the new endgame a shot—and honestly, there are some really good things there! But the corrupted nexus RNG is so frustrating. Even then, I don’t think that’s the core issue...
Are you guys having fun? Like, are you really enjoying the game? Right now I’m sitting at 3 days, 4 hours, and 5 minutes played, and I’m already thinking of dropping it... It just feels like something’s missing. I can’t quite explain it. Maybe it’s just me.
Repeating campaign is main part of league starter. I think GGG must add microtransaction to skip campaign. But it was realy painful to start new league for me in 0.2, it feels incredibly tedious and slow. Killing mobs by 20+ hits in the 1 act is not okay. in 0.1 i ran about 8 times. And every run took like 7-8 hours for me. I could run by any class and it was okay - i could kill any bosses. In 0.2.0 well..if you are not going through acts by spear you litteraly can't complete acts. All skills nerfed to beyond. I tryied before HP nerf mobs. And i droped after 1 act. I was exhausted and bored. I've used bow skills. I didn't died but boss took about 10 minutes to kill.
Then i tried again after patch. Game became less tedious but still i coudn't kill anyone by using xbow skills. Then i took spear and it was day and night - i ran through 1 acts like it was in 0.1. Then i took again xbow and tried at 2 act...and again my damage became miserable, i could kill white mobs by 2-3 rounds only. And i dropped again. I've tested few builds on standart league by using legacy items and im done for that season. There is no point to play engame - power cap for any builds became so low. 100 divines and you litteraly can't make your character stronger. There is no endgame loot what can be desired. And i dropped again till next league. Even Jonathan fix balance, there is no endgame content in this league
You really only notice it around level 88-90+ but you are exactly right. There is no endgame anymore unlike in 0.1. All the items that one could farm for (Time-Lost, Grand Spectrum, Adorned Diamond with getting perfectly corrupted 3-mod magic jewels, Heroic Tragedy, Temporalis, Queen of the Forest based builds, Morior Invictus with 5 socket corruption, HoWA gloves) in 0.1 were completely murdered by the nerfs and changes to the passive tree that theres no point in getting them anymore. My character is at LV 90 with around 15-20 div build and I honestly dont know what else there is left to get as all of the above doesnt exist anymore or is simply not worth it by far.
In 0.1 these items would give you builds worth 200+ div (400+ with Temporalis) but therefore reward you with insane teleport/movement speed or drastic power increases (Adorned Diamond doubling your corrupted magic jewels, triple Grand Spectrum giving you like 80 spirit, Against the Darkness providing 70+ spirit and resitances, etc. etc. etc.). That not only gave you smth to look forward to and an incentive to keep farming but when you finally got it done it would reward you with noticable powerups that changed your game experience (for the better!), similar to legendary items in D2 like Enigma. Thats what kept most ppl playing. And it was killed. Now there is nothing left to do after you reach T16-18 maps. You can get there with 10-20 div builds and then what? Keep slamming every semi decent rare you find in hopes of getting a 1% power increase? Sry thats pathetic. The endgame became MUCH worse in 0.2 as there just isnt any items worth farming and hence also no point in trying to become strong enough to down T4 pinnacles as their drops now uniformly suck....

Quality post and I agree with all of it. I was stagnant after the first week but after some theory crafting reworked my plan and was excited to try to build towards it. But after 2 days it just seems like grinding the endgame has zero value. I purchased 4 audiences with my 2 divine I've cobb led and ran them to get points to make ritual better since it won't be negatively affected by the bad drop rates but everything just feels so bad I don't see myself playing much until they announce a NUCLEAR patch, or they release the next update. But even then it's been relegated to "wait and see" not "I am actively waiting to play this game"

Im having a blast. I stay away from reddit, forums, YT AND TWITCH. I even disabled general chat.
AND CAN YOU GUESS WHAT I NOTICED???
My level of fun skyrocketed. Isnt that someting.
Is the game in a perfect state? NO
Do i belive the devs working their asses of to make this product the best it ever can be? YES
Will this game feel more balanced over time? YES
Why does PoE 1 feel so much better than PoE 2? 10 years in the making do that to a product and as time goes on with more patches more legues PoE 2 will get there
Does this patch SUCK? NO, the minorities will ALWAYS makes the loadest noice because the MAJORITY is to busy doin their own thing.
So this patch doesnt suck? I started playing Asherons Call 2001 and since then i more or less only played MMO games. Thats 24 years ago. And tbh i dont think i ever experienced a patch that didnt have a huge outburst. Whether it be in WoW, Diablo 3-4, SWTOR, GW 2, Warhammer online etc etc etc bla bla blaaaaa and so on..
So yeah, i ignore the noice and im having a blast.
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
