Not really a positive or negative post —just sharing my thoughts after watching the video. I noticed they were making judgments pretty quickly, and in my experience, waiting a bit and picking up some damage nodes really changed the experience for me.
That said, you make an interesting point. I’m not really advocating for anything specific, just communicating what GGG said in the interview about gear, passives, and their design philosophy. Given your point, and in the spirit of constructive dialogue, could you suggest some ways damage could be obtained that the devs could consider?
Excluding "Onemanaleft", all the PoE-vets know how the game works because we have been doing this stuff (creating builds) for many years and way over 10k hours.
That's insight and experience. If you boil it down, PoE is just a numbers game and especially with tools like PoB easy to take a closer look.
We know how much is actually possible because we can theory-craft and then control in-game, and the results are not good in 0.2.0.
There is a reason why the vast majority of ppl in softcore play "Amazon".
Not because it's new, that's only one part, but because it's good, while around 80% of other stuff struggles hard in endgame, unless you've already farmed enough stuff to "twink" another character.

I dunno man, I have a fairly large investment into offensive abilities and uhhh yeah the damage isn't there. It turns out that 800% of 0 is still 0.
Awesome this is constructive feedback, I wish some of the toxicity on these forums could focus on contructive comments from their own experience.

I just checked out a random video of streamers reacting to the new patch:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWE7TB2V5RE&t=404s
It seems the main complaint is about not killing fast enough or doing enough damage.
One thing I want to point out—straight from Grinding Gear in the Zizaran interview—is that the passive tree is designed to act as the multiplier for your gear. In other words, your passive nodes are the main source of damage scaling.
A lot of these streamers are complaining, and some of them are low level with zero passive points invested in offensive multipliers. If you take a look at the tree, many of the stronger multipliers—especially for minion builds—take time to reach.
I totally understand the “my Spectre does no damage” feeling, and I’ve experienced it myself. But I also r ealized I had zero minion damage multipliers at that point, so I wasn’t so quick to blame the patch.
From my experience, I went with a double Companion build in Hardcore SSF. I had to heavily invest in defense early on, but once I started allocating passive points toward Companion damage, my DPS skyrocketed. Sure, it felt sluggish early—but it really took off once I reached the multipliers.
As a side note, I also suspect that some streamers are expecting “zoom-zoom” gameplay because they’ve been conditioned by other games. PoE2 is its own game—leave your expectations at the door. That said, it’s totally fair to feel like it’s too slow or lacking in damage right now. Just keep in mind that it’s designed differently.
The spectres absolutely suck tho, even with investment in the tree. With maybe two exceptions I'm aware of (vaal guards and cultist archers)

Also things like movement skills (flame dash + Quicksilver) was the main reason i quit PoE 1... I am SO HAPPY these things aren't here, SO HAPPY!
You had the OPTION of not using Quicksilver and not using movement skills in PoE1. You could play however you wanted! Fast, slow , wide , static, sideways, porting.
Now when big chunk of players feel miserable when playing coz they get swarmed and chainstunned, you are Happy about it ? Let me get this straight ... Before you were ENVIOUS and now you are JOYFUL because others are miserable with no tools to play at their desired pace.
FORCED INTO A TUNNEL VISION GAMEPLAY.

all my jewels are 15% damage on minions, all my damage minions nodes are there, unless there is some magic build i dont think this is worth it, create an amazon and 1 shot all or you will have pain in your hands, my monk last patch was way better than this, i regret trying this minion stuff so hard.

"optional combat" is one of the most gaslghting bs disingenous answers i have ever heard.
tell me how do we level, get loot etc....is that optional?
That answer in response to monster speed was head scratching. Jonathan actually thinks players would just run past enemies to complete a map. Wtf?

Exactly. I mean you get more xp by killing higher level enemies (might be dr at some point don't really care) so running past mobs balances out somewhat, but if you can't just straight zerg to the end. If you just skip to the next couple of bosses maybe the first 1 or 2 would be fine but you end up hitting one where everything is 1 shot and it takes 10+ minutes to kill. Not killing anything in any scenario is just dumb. You can technically just skip everything in the current iteration (outside of bosses) but nobody is doing it. Hmmmm....

Even if they do, where is the problem? They are still playing the game and spending their time and money on it. Its SO odd, as a business, one should be happy that the client is using your product, period!
