"Tame Beast" seems like April's Fool-prank -> QoL is infernal
Using Tame Beast destroys the skill gem and in process you'll create a new skill gem that is linked to one of the hundreds of monsters in the game. This will match the level of the skill gem you used.
Now as the Tame Beast can have just a few modifiers, you might have hundreds of the same monster skill gems with different combination of skills. In average, you'll need 298 skill gems just to get all of the different 4 mod combinations from a pool of 8. Repeat this for the hundreds of different monsters in the game and Tame Beast has essentially turned to be a "rare item roll", which just doesn't feel good with the initial skill gem being destroyed when you use it. Now the skill gem level matters, so you have 20 different options (from level 1 to level 20) = 6000 different skill gems burned to - in average get all the possible combinations of different monsters on all levels. Sure, you don't want that - but it underlines the issue. I don't know how many BEAST-category monsters actually exist in the game, but let's presume the amount is e.g. 30. If you'd want every combination of mods of that monster and different levels of the skill gem, it would mean you'd need 180k skill gems. Now let's say you want only the L20 skill gem (which is worth a lot alone). That would cut the 180k needed skill gems to "only" 9k L20 skill gems. This isn't how skill gems are supposed to work? The experience is horrendous, similar to Ritualist not being able to clearly see their acquired buffs. Proper fix would be that you can always revert the skill gem back to the "Tame Beast" version of the said skill gem level you had. Why in the 9 circles of hell would you want to have ALL possible combinations? This is NOT pokemon. You do not need to catch them all.
You likely will have some 4-6 of those. |

Honestly the whole pokemon thing needs a rework. It's too powerful without any investment.

" You are focusing on completely wrong thing here. Skills are there to drive experimenting. You are supposed to change skills and support gems on will. Tame Beast doesn't drive towards that at all. Skill gem that destroys itself on use seems like a completely baffling experience. You don't know which beast / mod combination you'd want and what it would cost before you have actually created the specific skill gem, destroying the Tame Beast permanently. Since you get 4 rare mods on the "pokemon" (out of at least 8 possible that the enemy can have at the same time) -> you will need to do repeated attempts anyways to get the mods you are looking for on the base type of the monster you're going for. In short - the design is completely against experimentation. Easy fix: simply enable reverting of the pokeball back to the Tame Beast skill gem. I found some other QoL issues related to the Tame Beast (or the created skill gem).
- You can increase the level of the tamed beast, but it will ONLY be present on the skill list if you have it equipped AND it is lower level -> otherwise it will not be listed in skills at all when you are cutting a new skill gem - You can only equip one companion at the same time, even though nothing in the skill lists that you could have only one (if you have enough spirit) to have multiple - The spirit reservation (%) should indicate current spirit cost as value as well - Rare mod "details" should be improved; eg. there isn't any kind of damage or ailment chance listed anywhere of numerous skills the companions can have The best music you've never heard; also free to use on your projects! https://www.youtube.com/@NeverheardTunes 🎶😎🌞

Only real issue with Tame Beast is that its just an aura and has nothing to do with actually taming beast companions to use. Its just a glorified aura and it doesn't matter at all which pet you have because they don't do any damage.
They should remove the aura aspect entirely and make the pet actually decent. Last edited by Kashou#2868 on Apr 11, 2025, 8:32:19 AM

There's a Big Passive node that says you can have 2 companions of different kinds with -30 to defences...well that doesn't work. Still says I've reached my limit at 1.
