RIP POE. You will be missed

As a wise man said, "Can't believe poe1 died for THAT"

First version had me puzzled a bit but i stil had hope it could get there, this one definitely killed it.

Gameplay is refined and high quality but completely boring. Slowing everything isn't "meaningful combat", it's just a snooze fest. The game isn't hard, love those that defend that version with "git gud" attitude. Not sure if troll or stupid, really...

Again, the game is NOT hard, it's BORING. yes i can roll a slow ass projectile or a charge coming my way, or jump into an inside safe AOE thank you. Do i want to do it for 15 minutes repeating the same combo again and again and again as the boss life bar dwindles down ? NO !

Passive tree is just utterly uninspiring and boring there is like ZERO choice and variety, a baboon can make a build in that game since everything, aside the obvious clusters that EVERYBODY picks, is so abhorrently bad.

Removal of support gem level was a lazy move and a very bad one at that. It blocks design space and balancing options making the campaign balancing a nightmare which we're paying today. Same as the passive tree, offering 500 terrible option isn't helping diversity in any way. Everybody are still playing the same 30 support gems.

Don't even need to enter the topic of ascendencies design. Terrible and so afraid of "giving too much power" that you make them litterally unplayable for some. again, win for diversity when everybody playing an ascendency plays the same 8 nodes.... what's the point of having 16 or even 20 ?

The king is dead, long live the king.

Oh and BTW those geniuses that say "well you can stick to poe 1" no we can't. POE 1 is a decade old game and has been mechanically obsolete for quite a long time. POE2 was supposed to be the fresh coat of paint that would have extended its lifetime. Now we know that it won't get that freshener so it will slowly decay further and further until another better arpg comes along and signs its final death warrant.

First it was Darkest dungeon who had a gem of a game design and a unique space in the market, then decided to follow roguelike system "because it's popular right?" ending up with a more refined, way better looking but ultimately boring roguelike clone that i couldn't bring myself to play more than 30 hours, and now POE follows along forgetting who it is to try to become just another forgettable souls like that will die as soon a the trend get overriden by the next one.

You took the words right outta my mouth. RIP PoE
It was a good, long, solid run. Ty for the memories.
But souls like is the best gaming can offer. Ofcourse every game has to be a souls like in some form.

/s
Every idiot wants to make their arpg souls like. Every idiot wants to make their game souls like. I don't get it.

Inb4 GTA 6 souls like.
The POE community is literally the only community I've ever heard say "we want a completely different game for PoE2". Like imagine if a new Counter Strike game was a monster raising sim and CS players were like "This is great, I wanted the new CS to be a completely different game because we still have the decade old one to play!". I've never heard this argument before and the idea that a company should leverage the brand and IP and hype of a game series to just make a completely different game is usually seen as a bad thing. Most people want the "2" of their game series to be a new and improved version of the stuff they loved about the "1" of the game series.
they said they have 10 years of PoE1 experience and now know how to make the "best" arpg int he world... well by the looks of it you they have no clue why PoE1 was good in the first place... SMH what a dissapointment...
PoE1 3.23 - the best league of all time (an absolute banger)
----
PoE2 0.2f - a bit better, but PoE1 atlas is a million times better than PoE2 atlas

You haven't been watching the streamers or the pro-PoE2 feedback since release then. It's not a majority of people but there is a large cohort of people who actually want the game to be completely different because "PoE1 will still be there" (which is fanciful thinking from people who has never been in a position of understanding in a business).
This is really the issue at hand. The devs are so obsessed with correcting what they perceive as the flaws of poe1, things that got out of hand and modernizing it, that they don't really understand what made it special and unique.
