Add a 'Funcore' (FC) League! Problem solved! Two directions/visions to play :)
Or lemme just play my old EA characters without bricking NERFS... I didn't wanted to play any league (I never played league other than standard in any game). I have 800+ hours done and 6 chars with 90+ levels. Now all that time is wasted because they destroyed everything I worked for. Even selling items is not an option because no one wants them anymore as these builds are bricked...
I was addicted to EA and I feel ROBBED. |

" Great, isn't it?! *Psychotic Joker laugh* We just LOoOovE being cactus-fed! [to play one iteration of the game everybody has to deal with that maybe roughly 20% of the PoE playerbase actually wants] Let the Extremist/Hardcore players who enjoy slowly chewing on and swallowing glass shards have their vision/direction of the game in the other leagues. It is really that simple. It is not a hard ask. When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails. Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect. Diluting the playerbase between more leagues and refusing opportunities to on-board new players into the experience they hope to provide are not good things.
I would say making the content available in Standard, and giving new players the impression that their characters would still exist in their current state, was a massive mistake. A league like you proposed has the same issues. They simply do not have the resources to provide quality updates to two completely different games. If anything, they should keep their promise to new players, and make sure the builds people use will continue to work the same in Standard. As it stands now, it is exactly like PoE1, an interactable graveyard where your currency is worthless and updating your characters is more of a mission than rerolling on a fresh economy. In my opinion, they should not do that. They should simply be honest about how Standard really works. Your character is there so you can go look at it. There is no gameplay left for that character after it has been ported, and everything has changed, unless you embark on an SSF/ spreadsheet journey to find a way to make it work on the next major update. They shouldn't give people in Standard access to the new content, so everyone is rerolling together, and they don't miss out on any more opportunities to on-board new players into the league experience. " What are you on about? I am not talking about the 'Standard' League as we know it in its current wannabe Souls-like inspired vision/direction of the game that maybe roughly 20% of the entire playerbase wants. There is way more backlash out there than there is positive support/approval for the game's current direction of the game. Let's stick to the facts and address the issue like in my proposal that appeases everybody. My proposal says, "You guys get to keep your sluggish Souls-like experience and we will have ours in a separate League." I am not saying/suggesting to get rid of the current direction of the game! You guys can have it yet not everybody wants it. It's that simple. " There is an old Hindu proverb that talks about a group of blind-folded people touching an elephant to describe what they're touching. The blind-folded man who placed his hand upon its side said the elephant "is a wall". Another who felt its tail, described it as a rope. The last blind-folded person felt its tusk, stating the elephant is that which is hard, smooth and like a spear. In the end? Nobody knew beforehand what they were touching yet everyone was touching the elephant the entire time! To bring my point full-circle here, in the end, everyone is playing Path of Exile no matter what League they choose to play! There is no dilution here, only more like-minded players playing their preferred version of the game. With a different League, we're all just picking a different piece from the same pie. That's not splitting the community up; that is pairing players with other like-minded players to play in the direction/league they prefer. That will also result in a lot less bitching in Global chat altogether (not completely eradicated, but greatly lessened) and you'll be Partying up with other players who are actually enjoying the same game you are vs. being around a bunch of negative players not also enjoying the version of the game you like! You see? There is a bigger picture here to this whole thing nobody is seeing. Almost everybody in these forums are facing point-blank at the mountain wall when, if you just take a step back, you will see the entire mountain. Things become more clear. Let's take it further: More like-minded players in separate leagues can actually enhance the overall experience. When players are divided into leagues based on their preferences or playstyles, it allows for more tailored and enjoyable experiences. In a game like Path of Exile 2, where different players have different expectations, some may prefer more challenging content while others might enjoy a more flexible approach that allows more agency over their builds! Instead of forcing everyone into the same experience, allowing different leagues gives players the freedom to find a community of like-minded individuals. This means more enjoyable gameplay and a better overall experience! Conclusively, my proposal for an FC League allows more diverse types of content to be explored 'in parallel'. The argument that they 'don't have the resources' is simply a hogwash excuse. GGG's team is no stranger to working on multiple forms of content, etc. not even released yet just after putting out new league after new league like in PoE 1. They have the resources! Where is your [source] that says they don't have the resources? Again, let's just stick to the 'facts' based on GGG's development history of Path of Exile altogether, not baseless claims. When game developers ignore the criticism that would improve their game, the game fails. Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect.
