Care to show us a "slow and methodical" ARPG that has worked?

Monster hunter
Crisis core
oh and you'll love this one
Spoiler
Dark Souls

There are also tonne of dungeon crawler ARPG's that aren't exactly 'slow and methodical' but aren't braindead zooming games either.

I feel like we are on the verge of calling things that actually require you to play the game and perform actions, 'slow and methodical'

Anyway I think 0.2 has issues, and I can't deny there's a sweetspot we should work towards, but kind of hard to have these conversations with the current condition of the community. Some of the 'methodical gameplay' and limitations e.g. so many skills bound to weapons, can be a bit much, but the whole 'it can't be done' is absolute nonsense.

If slow and methodical means 0.1, then yeah i agree. 0.1 was already slower and more interactive than poe1.

If slow and interactive means 0.2 then no, i really dont think its possible to make a good arpg like this

They are all Action-RPGs. That is what ARPG stands for. You are stuck in a bubble where everyone has a more narrowed down understanding of what ARPG means.
Go ahead, use a search engine of your choice.

'Action' means you act and react in real-time to make stuff happen in the game, which is contrary to everything happening automatically at the press of a single button, but the real issue you're having is being able to acknowledge any kind of grey area.

no
its not funny, when everyone with a strong build can kill everything in "ms" or seconds.

the economy will be destroyed

A much like in real life. I don't care about the economy at the cost of quality of life.

B the economy is still garbage your preference is not actually good for the economy, it is quite literally irrelevant.

Sekiro is an Action RPG but also a 'souls-like'. get it?

PoE is an Action RPG and also an 'arpg'.

we use these terms to describe the genre defining design tropes featured in these games. the games you mentioned lack these design tropes and therefore are not 'arpgs'.

Yes I understand what you're saying. Are you really going to try and tell me that it's impossible to make a decent game that blurs these lines? There are plenty of """slow""" action-based dungeon crawler games, some of them even have rpg elements!

ofc not. but slow doesn't necessarily mean arduous or taxing right?

I can watch TV all day, but I can't play the drums all day.
if your slow hyper engaging combat is in a game designed to be played for 100s of hours several times a year it'll potentially be too big of an ask for players.

PoE2 doesn't intend to be a game where the experience is literally just it's campaign and the challenges therein. it's different.

I wrote this wall of text relevant to this a little while ago - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3749448
