Spear / Huntress is the worst levelling experience I've had in poe 1 or 2

Well, it took a while but I managed to ascend. Ended up with a curse that debuffed my damage, couldn't avoid a random curse. I spent about 10 minutes on the final boss, my attacks were like pinpricks. Still, got me a brand new ring slot, so that should help a bit.
+1 on this, spear skills are severely undertuned across the board. Act 1+2 have been an utter slog as a result of damage. The only way I've been able to progress in a meaningful time frame is Rake + Stomping Ground support as many have pointed out.
Yes, all spear skills are a complete garbage. Only spearfield and lightning spear are barely usable, everything else is just shit with 0 dps.
But killing any pack of mobs with these two skills takes a LOT of time. And you have no options except basic attack if you need to kill any stationary boss like jama. Actually, I am not able to kill it even with a 10 divine worth spear. Just have not enough dps. It is the worst leveling experience since poe1 beta.
Probably I am done with this patch.

Huntress is absolute garbage...

1. Parry? Seriously? This isn't supposed to be Kingdom of Deliverance or Assassins Creed...

2. Underpowered garbage early skills.

3. Games should be fun, huntress is not fun.

4. Stop trying to be cute with parry/disengage mechanics...they do not work in ARPG's.

haha i know, its terrible, how the hell am i supposed to parry something when im getting rushed my 12 mobs at the same time?

Huntress is complete trash, does 0 damage unless you doing the rake cheese. i was mad hyped to play, im about to make an new alt cause its just a waste of time

I just finished act 3 on SSF HC on a Warrior using a 1H Spear in one hand and a Scepter in the offhand, using Skeleton Warriors and Spearfield, because I'm trying to make a janky Manifest Weapon/Minion Smith of Kitava.

90% of my passive tree is just stats from trying to get to Minion nodes lol...

Half my gear is blue still.

Sounds like you're mashing your head against a wall to get out of a locked room instead of trying to unlock the door.

This was exactly my experience. I struggled getting to level 9. I did learn that parry was really the only way to level, but I did not like that game style. So at level 9, I left the huntress for Witch. My witch is now in Act 3 somewhere around level 34. My witch doesn’t have a big hitting spell, but the various DOT’s add up. Overall though, it’s been a much better experience for me. I would recommend giving it a try.
In my opinion the biggest problem for Huntress early game are those Frenzy
Charges. Without them you have no dmg. To gain them you can only parry and do disengage. In lots of cases I had issues with disengage skill when it do not target mob with parry debuff i.e. disengage did not generated frenzy charge, debuff from parry dissapeard from mob and had to do it again. Also fighing against mage bosses or bosses with lots of AoE do not give you much chances to generate frenzy charge which makes fight turbo slow. I think that there should be some additional skill or some support skill thah will help with frenzy charge generation early game.

Don’t understand this thread, huntress is OP and 2 button build clears and kills bosses deathless.
And that’s on an Xbox with controller.

Any perceived disrespect is unintended, I have High Functioning Asperger's and its socially inept.
I can understand - spinning combos on bosses and rare mobs, fine. But spinning very long combos on white mobs? Seriously? It’s the most boring and time-consuming thing imaginable, zero fun.

I just finished Balbala and I'm still at 0 deaths with only using gear I found (no uniques and nothing too fancy).
It is a bit different to control and therefore takes a bit of getting used to and some skills, but it is kinda fun. Compared to my very first char in December, where I struggled to get even past Geonor, it was easy in comparison.

We'll see how it goes from here, but so far I can't complain.
