Spear / Huntress is the worst levelling experience I've had in poe 1 or 2
100% agree with OP and most of the comments here. But I would have to add in that Act 1 is nearly as bad on other classes also.
From the constant 1-shots by Nags to the lack of any decent damage it's become unbearable to play and an atrocity to level. Being new to PoE I decided to try PoE2 and immediately was hooked. Frequently going through the campaign I wouldn't realize I had leveled until I'd notice 3 or 4 passive skill points. My thought was that if you're having so much fun that you don't even think about levels then the game must be outstanding. And it was just that. But now it is worse than a grind of any kind. I finally logged off leaving my Huntress sitting in the middle of the Hunting Grounds. Meanwhile my other two new characters are sitting in Clearfall praying that GGG will "adjust" things to make it as fun as it was before. In the meantime I'll be playing my 96 monk on the old server. |

poe 2 is running simulator and dumb fight simulator where both of you and the mobs dont do anything. Also they created 100 new uniques and I finished 2 acts and got zero unique drops :D. How is it supposed to lure new players in?

I manage to progress, but it's a slog.
Most of the time I'm using Explosive Spear and Lightning Spear. Explosive spear without a charge is clunky, but once you get a feeling for how to use it, it's decent damage. Throw it where the mobs are going to be when it explodes, don't throw it and then try to maneuver them on top of it. The whole melee thing isn't working for me. The whole parry/disengage thing, I only do it with isolated mobs, to build a charge for blowing up the next crowd. Melee as a way to play is just too cumbersome. Too much time positioning and avoiding damage. The projectile attacks at least let me DPS almost non-stop. Maybe when I unlock some more efficient melee skills. Spear Stab is indeed outperforming most other skills, even without any support. It was my best damage against Asinia. I rushed her every time she cast the bone prison, she spends a lot of time channeling an AoE attack within the circle and the rapid stabs hurt her more then anything else I could do at the time. |

im in a2 with huntress using 3x whirling slash + twister combo. u can whirling slash like its a mini dash at long range and fire the twister there. it clears trash very well esp in doors where twister can bounce and hit things multiple times.
boss dmg isnt high but its doable, madwolf took like 5mins? every other skill i tested have been really bad |

Rake + Stomping Ground + Lacerate works decent. Simply ignore anything that is not extremely good in favor of small passive strength nodes. Allround solution for any class right now that is struggling as it seems.
Positive effects: You don't care about your weapon, because most damage is stomping ground anyways and your tree is kind of easy built by itself no matter where you start or went. I am not trying to defend, just posting a workaround that is as hillarious as seeing Quin playing the Blacksmith. Last edited by cavexs#4102 on Apr 5, 2025, 3:01:07 PM

" This is the way, and by the end of act2 you will be shreding everything even bosses like nothing. Good and fun build. Playing this from start and having no problem at all. For the first act, parry was great tool for dealing with bosses. But this is just personal view. |
