hardcore players outlevel all areas and skip dangerous mobs, so does it even matter?

This isn't about "Pro" hardcore players. The original discussion was, which is better starting. And I gave my opinion, that ranger is for new players, or people who want to use a bow starting out instead of melee. Duelist is better in the longer run, slightly, while doing better starting as melee.

Duelist is better at melee then a bow starting out?

LOL ok...w/e you say bud.

30% of nothing is still NOTHING..

You have such weak evasion and armor early game the extra evasion on ranger tree is a fart in the wind.. :)

Also duelist has leather and steel + 2 other evasion nodes at the start. In total the ranger only has an extra 8% over the duelist at the cost of everything else. I still lol at everyone who continue to roll rangers for archery :P

Out of the first 20 points, you can get 50% more evasion rating, same amount of HP and phys dmg, for the price of about 10%-15% attack speed as a ranger vs duelist. I believe starting with more evasion rating is a lot better then some attack speed especially considering that you have a limited mana pool, and attack speed is pretty much irrelevant at lower levels.

I guess i am thinking in hardcore mindset. But if you are playing scrubcore, does it even really matter?

The thing people seem to miss is the late game. Who cares about the early first levels which are easy anyways? You know you can gain more HP as a duelist then a ranger but even gain more dmg due to you are closer to everything that's important then a Ranger is?

I'm not sure if you haven't seen the new Duelist tree or not, or you're just disillusional. Let's make a very very simple thing here shall we?

I will just take my own aura build to make this as simple as possible even. This is how you can make a duelist build at lvl 100.

No points wasted and alot of hp and dmg. Best of two worlds, can even change some points so you get even more life, but still more hp and survivability then a ranger by miles. You talk about evasion? Wow, seems like you dont know how the current meta game works. HP > all.

Now, lets try it out with a ranger instead.

Be honest, which one would you pick. Duelist are far supperior in end game due to how its placed in the tree and how it starts. Rearrange the skills as much as you want, just made a fast ranger tree with as close a duelist i could.
So the conclution, if you want a class that does more dmg with bows, attacks faster and have it easyer to gain accses to the better part of the tree.. you should go duelist. And please dont give me that evasion crap again, i will just ignore you. :)

-edit- Even missed this, +5% to maximum Fire Resistance +5% to maximum Cold Resistance +5% to maximum Lightning Resistance from the ranger tree, so take away 8% health also.
