Item variety
Mods based one character level, some could be item-type specific:
+attack rating (weapon) +%attack rating (weapon) +damage (weapon) +life +mana +enegy shield (on in or hybrid helms for example) +evasion (on agility or hybrid boots for example) +armor (on strenght or hybrid body armor for example) A whole group of mods with “chance to cast on X”: A lot of existing skills, especially those with some CC like cold skills and Curses could be used here. You can give them a chance to be cast on either hit, being struck, striking (this would include even attacks that enemy evaded), critical hits, evasion etc. Another whole group would be minion mods: As there are more minion skills planned it would only make sense to give some more ways to improve them, not only by support gems. If you feel like it would be a bad idea to have minion mods spawn on rares, theres should at least be a few uniques with mods like +minion damage, elemental damage, resistances, life, armor, even run and attack speed etc. There could be more specific mods that allow minions to “proc” some effects like curses, slowing and such. Other mods +%chance that hit causes monster to flee (one weapons) +Strenght +Intelligence +Dexterity +light radius +poison length reduction (maybe on a specific item type so you cannot get too much of it) +damage reduction by X +attacker take damage of X (but make it a significant amount unlike in other games) +reduced requirements of the item by X% +knockback % (weapons) +ignore % of target armor (weapons) +freeze length reduction +chance to avoid being frozen (I wouldn’t like a 100% “cannot be frozen” mod like in d2) +x to all skills (on amulets for example) +x to specific skill +slow by X% (on weapons) +slow resistance (50% slow resistance would make a 30% enemies slow mod into 15% - something like that) +enemy resistance to cold/fire/lightning/chaos or even physical decreased by X% +avoid projectiles +cold/fire/lightning damage reduction by X +monsters rest in peace (YES, I hope there would be monsters that can resurrect eventually, the shamans in d2 were great ^,^) +X% max mana or life (would fit a unique item with not so great other stats) +X% Crushing Blow ! (X% of current (not max) life removed) Much of this is taken from D2, that I think would fit great in PoE, I’m not so creative myself, so forgive me (= Some of the more powerful mods above would be best used on some unique items. I think PoE can also use some stuff from Titan Quest, for example:
- Life Leech resist (in case there will be mobs that use LL and in great mod in PvP) - Mana Leech resist (Same as above) - Stun resist - Pierce resist (bows damage) - "GRANTS SKILL XXX" (without gems - RARE, maybe on soome uniques only. And others stuff like (Sorry if this is already mentioned above): INTRODUCE MONSTER TYPES!!!! - + XX (flat value and perscentage - two mods) DMG to Beasts, Undead, Elementals, Etc.. - + XX (flat value and perscentage - two mods) Attack Rating to Beasts, Undead, Elementals, Etc.. - + XX (flat value and perscentage - two mods) Chance to Crit to Beasts, Undead, Elementals, Etc.. - - XX (flat value and percentage too) DMG from Beasts, Undead, Elementals, Etc.. Also: - XX (flat value and percentage) damage taken goes to mana instead - - XX% enemy armor/evansion rating/energy shield on hit - slows enemy on hit - knockback - chance to dodge melle/projectiles/magic - meele retaliation (attacker takes damage when hits - make this psychical, fire, cold, ligtning, chaos - 5 mods here) - ranged retaliation (ranged attacker takes damage when hits - make this psychical, fire, cold, ligtning, chaos - 5 mods here) - -XX% (very low amounts) to enemy elemental/chaos resists on hit And some affixes from ultimate Diablo 2 mod - MEDIAN XL (some are used very extensively in this mod): - CHANCE TO CAST SKILL XXX (but reasonable chances - not 5% like on D2 LoD - u may make build around this in Median): On hit, on attack (you dont must hit), on enemy death, when being attacked, when being hit, etc.... - REANIMATE - XX% chance thet killed monster will reanimate as monster XXX. Also i wrote topic some time ago about weapons automods to make weapond feels more different from each other. This is link to my ideas: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/4240 SUMMARY: 1. I think that most of this mods should appear not only on the uniques but an rares/magical too. GAme really needs more diversity in item affixes. 2. Unique items MUST HAVE at least unique inventory 2D appereance. 3. Unique items MUST HAVE some "themed names" (Sword with fire DMG = "Blade of Burning Hells", etc... AND MOST IMPORTANT: Unique items must feel "unique" at least much percent of them (higher levels) - like in Diablo 2. Look at this: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/ and go to "Legendary" section of each item type. What you see? I see 20 affixes with different configurations on all items. They looks BORING. D3 cut off all cool affixes that D2 have and that we wrote here. Its lame LOL. Itemization in D3 is worse that PoE atm. PS. Its not a PoE fanboy statement, even on sites like Diablofans or Diablo Incgamers (fansites) ppl complaing about this right now. And they are right imho. This looks so cheap. :) GGG dont do that. Blizzard is lazy, bacause they can be lazy - Diablo 3 will sell well regardless game quality. Dont be lazy PLZ. You are now my only hope for decent HnS to play in next year. |

Sorry for double post biy i want to bump this topic to the top of page because its some kind of developer response request.
I please VERY NICELY... :) If Erik works on Unique Items right now then maybe we can get a glimpse of the completed unique item (preferable high lvl one) with some exciting new and unique mods? I'd like the idea of some items having negative modifiers as well. This could benefit both pve and pvp.
