Why remove half of the jewel sockets?

What’s sad is I don’t doubt they did remove the jewel sockets in an attempt to anger the player base, they already have the bag of money.

You don’t get the ramifications of cutting the most build diversifying item there is. But you will. Mark my words.

If you needed to rework this hard the game should still be in closed beta.

Hard to disagree with this.
It’s hard to disagree because GGG literally fooled the most loyal people into paying to pre alpha test the game but they got away with it by calling it an open beta.

So they don’t have to pay testers and force players to pay for a game they were going to launch F2P.

Horrid ethics and morals.

The fact they waited 2 days prior to this patch to tell everyone that they were planning on cutting jewel slots by 50% is a big part of why I’ll never play the game again.

It isn’t so much that they cut the jewels by 50%, it’s that they knew they were going to do so over a month ago but knew telling everyone would only lead to negative backlash.

That’s mentally deficient logic. But I guess I can’t expect big brain moves from GgG

GGG clearly has no idea what they are doing.

the dev team who made, by a million miles, the best arpg that has ever existed and has been the most successful long term playerbase arpg. the dev team that wrote the blueprint for this generation of arpgs that absolutely no one has been able to execute to the same standard?

they have no idea what theyre doing?

k. stopped reading this thread there. such a ridiculous take.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Yep because what you fail to realize is the only motivating factor for GgG is greed greed greed.

You know why they waited till 2 days before patch to tell everyone they were basically destroying the game? Because they are cowards.

The lead developer can’t even admit mistakes. “Oops we just didn’t realize the boss HP pools were doubled” oopsy.

The only comment that has been moderated in this thread was when I said the lead developer had a booger sugar problem. Wonder why.

How can I tell he has this problem? Because he only operates in 50% and 200% and nothing in between. Classic coke head logic.

I mean can’t he at least be an innovative crack head?

Even GGG said they cant test everything, that the best way to test things is by us players. So they dropped the nerf bat on all the stuff that was played a lot because they have the data they wanted/needed on those interactions. So basically now we are Beta testers for the new content coming out in 0.20. Much easier to collect and review data if the player base is playing/using the things you wish to beta!!!
+1

Did you know that back in the day promo merchandise for companies was given out for free? They stopped doing so when the market realized it could make money.

You are cheering for being a beta tester that had to pay to beta test?

You think it’s the players responsibility to get the game in working order?

Good lord are you people dumb

Think of all the video game testers that are unemployed due to idiots like this

First time to POE 2 or POE in general. We are beta testers. Period.
One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.
No. You are an unpaid alpha tester. Period. We are all alpha testers that paid to test the game.

25% reduced jewel slots would cut diversity, 50% reduced jewel slots = everyone playing the same build per class.

You are totally correct that cutting 50% jewel slots will be a hit to diversity of builds, it’ll basically pigeon hole every class to the same 1-2 builds. And what’s worse than that, everyone will be chasing nearly identical jewel stats.

It was bad enough when most people were chasing very similar stats, now everyone is going to be chasing literally the same stats on nearly every jewel they use.

All they’ve done is make the Corrupt magic jewels more mandatory than they were while making Rare jewels more useless than they were.

Cool beans!

I have 70 of the best minion sapphires and best crit chance sapphires with damage and energy shield.

I’m talking about 70 within 10% of perfect rolled 4 and 5 stat jewels.

I spent the entire early access gobbling up the best jewels I could find because why would I ever assume they are cutting the slots by 50%. That would be a mentally deficient decision to make.

People who spam bought ingenuities are making 100+ mirrors and people who bought items that are actually designed to be build defining are making negative profit. Word.

Nothing like knowing GGG set up players who are already rich as hell to become richer than hell.

I own one ingenuity with 80% and 25% Armour corruption. Maybe that’ll be worth an arm and a leg someday.

I’m less upset about going bankrupt on items no one will ever want and more upset about the build diversity being absolutely obliterated.

Niche builds needed those jewel slots to even have a chance.

Jewels were only good because everything else was lacking. From the get-go, I felt there too many sockets. It surely didn't help that there was no proper scaling available for plenty of things, so jewels were the way to go about it. That alone speaks volumes, actually.
