EXP LOSS WHEN DYING IS STUPID
" 20,612 playing 41 minutes ago, 24,840 24-hour peak. From steamcharts. Seems to me like things like the exp penalty chased away all but the 1% of players. These are just statistics and facts. "Just go play another game" isn't adding anything to this discussion forum which is about feedback about the game, I will continue to give my feedback that PoE 2 is a 2/10 undercooked mess until they fix it. Which might take a few years. So many outdated design decisions that should have been forever forgotten 2 decades ago in this game, no AH,cumbersome and annoying trading while having to whisper people etc. etc. Like its literally unacceptable for a game like this to release in the year 2025. If nobody gives feedback and just moves onto "another game they should play" well then no game would ever improve lmao, this is a live-service game therefore its shaped and influenced by the playerbase. Otherwise why have this entire forum at all? Outdated, that's what the design of PoE 2 is in 1 word. Not to mention ancient, archaic mechanics that are pointless and waste time, like "click well to get flask charges" or exp loss deleting hours of your time for literally no reason at all. The biggest offender is endgame bosses deleting hundreds of hours of time if you die a few times, and probably still only 1 portal at the highest difficulty which is just like "??????". Why did they even make portals scale with this arbitrary "difficulty" they put onto it, like just let the people have their 6 portals this isn't Dark Souls and it will never be some deep game that requires insane skill, this kind of design only pushes people to make builds that oneshot the boss, or pay 10 divines for a boss carry/sell their fragments. The only thing that looks nice and shiny are the graphics and animations, because 6 years and lots of money were spent making those. And the campaign is nice the first time through I guess, then it instantly becomes a chore. Anyway the fact still remains, exp loss and stuff like 1 portal per map are objectively bad for this game, and need to be changed asap. |

" Great conclusion fallacy. You see "PoE2 lost over 90% of the player base over 4 months" and conclude: "It's because of exp penalty and stuff" while you have not a single fact supporting this statement. So, is the decrease of the PoE player base over 3-4 months from 100% to below 10% usual or unusual? Spoiler: https://poedb.tw/us/League#ConcurrentPlayers It's a seasonal game where ppl COME BACK at the start of a new league (new content), play as long as they want (to "finish" whatever their goal is) and then leave. TL;DR: It's totally normal. Where are your facts? I might ask. Because stuff like the "exp penalty" has been in place since March 25, 2010, in PoE1, and the game still exists and grows 15 years later... [Removed by Support]

They need to make extra portals into an atlas tree node along with reduced XP after death. That would add player agency and hopefully bring an end to all this unproductive back and forth nonsense.

There's a SUPER SIMPLE solution.
Make it separate. Easy. We have Standard. We have League. We have SSF. We have Hardcore. We have Hardcore SSF. There's even Ruthless. Make League + no exp loss. And its sorted. Then check what people play more and which servers are more popular. Just give players the options and they will pick what they like. Then just work on what people liked and make more of it. Come on .... Last edited by Kodavor#1200 on Mar 26, 2025, 8:16:42 PM

" Sure. And then we create a league where items drop rolled perfectly, and a league where ppl get a divine every hour, and a league where you play D4 instead of PoE, and a league where you are instantly level 100, and a league where you can buy every single item with gold from a vendor, and a league where everybody deals 1m base damage... " Sounds like my kinda league, I'd love custom private league mods that buff everything and make the game actually fun to play. |

" Sure. There are ppl who play "Diablo 4" so... we don't need to bet. The point is - GGG does not need to change/implement stuff for every single "need" some ppl have. I know, ppl view it as toxic when I say something like "Then why are you playing this game in the first place?", but it's a genuine question. Why would someone choose a game to play when a SINGLE mechanic in it is sooo horrible that it makes them "quit the game"? And while I exaggerated with my examples, where do you actually draw the line!? Now ppl ask for a separate league without "EXP loss", then it's a separate league "without the campaign", then it's a separate league "with smart ground loot so you don't need to craft/trade". You get the point. I am not saying that every decision GGG made was like the second coming of Jesus, hell no, but they generally know what they are doing - there is a reason WHY they are still in business with a 15-year-old ARPG. No no you cant actually let people enjoy all the content with all the cool builds. That is only for the .1%. Peasants have to keep dropping petty currency for Alva to put some numbers on the inflation.

As it stands now, the best content the game offers is HCSSF. Switching purpose from farming and an endgame that struggles to provide meaningful progression to just trying to stay alive is the way to go until hopefully April 4th.
