XP loss on death is atrocious game design and should have no place in PoE 2

Tho I think the loss XP on death is a bit high 10% would prefer 5% if they don't have one all players would get to level 100 easily and have nothing to work to

I am level 91 would be 100 if I had not died all the damn time

sorry to say I like the XP loss makes me try to get better and not die as much tho as I said would want 5% tho as 2 bars (10%) is annoying to lose at level 90 as you only get like 4% a map now

Trust me you wouldn't be 100. Not even close. Due to xp requirements growing exponentially you would probably be 92. 93 at best.

As I mentioned above I died about 50 times from 80 to 94. Now on the way to 95 I get about 2% XP per t16 map, which means that the 50 deaths set me back about I full lvl 95 XP bar. So 1 lvl less due to punishment.
That's partially my point. It doesn't really do much in terms of total progress, but every death feels just horrible

I have 2 toons one which 91 and one sorcerer 78 if I had stayed on the which I may not be 100, but I would be close to it maybe 97, but I have died so much trying things out (and just being bad at the game)

one of my friends started at the same time as me (like 2 days before me) and is level 97 but has died less than me but still a lot

but removing the XP penalty is (in my opinion) just silly as there would be nothing to work to and (again in my opinion) not all players (myself included) should be 100

Sorry but that is my 2 cents

No, it's fair. that's your opinion, no need to apologize.
again a random after death explosion that kill randomly, invisibly and with no time for human reaction. Losing 1div+map, hours of setups, slot of affixes, redo empty maps, losing xpm all loot, when its not breaches that crash and close all portals ... FIX THIS !
Oh yeah, and it was forgotten to mention that lag kills. And the game is laggy as hell after 1PM my time. Today I decided to stop playing the game as I had two deaths thanks to lag, lost the map and all the exp I got in the previous hour (lvl 89). I'm not sure I will come back to the game.
I like xp loss on death, it's a challenge. It wouldnt mean anything if anyone could do it. Being lvl 100 is not a requisite for completing the game.
Exp Loss is [Removed by Support]. It is an ass-hat mechanic and brings NOTHING to improve quality of game play.

I was just burned out of this game already. Then I just logged in, did 4 maps (4-5 rares in each, took 10min to complete) and went to a boss. Skills didn't hit it, I got 1-shotted and my lv 92 went back to 0%.

So I just closed this shit of a game after a 15min session.

If I wanted to be "punished" for dying I would be playing hardcore. I'm not, so guess what? Shove your punishments up ur ass.

Already purchased Last Epoch. Going to start the season 1 day earlier.

Goodbye for all sado-maso scrubs here - your concept of "fun" sucks... and [Removed by Support]

One of the reasons exp loss is so [Removed by Support] is also the fact that the game works fine till 9-10am, then it starts to lag and lags through the day. We glitch and get penalized because some developer is not doing what they're being paid for with our money. That's how I see it and btw I've been a developer for 20+ years now.

I've died more times this season from obscure on-death explosions & actually invisible/unexplainable sources than I ever did in the first season.

I'm on PS5 so I can save gameplay on the fly to find out what happened. To resolve the ODE issue, I literally stand still for 4 or 5 seconds after every mob I kill before going forward.. but I've also experienced many instances where there is literally no explanation for what could have killed me.

It does not feel good as a gameplay experience & XP loss is just the rotten topping added to it all. I can begrudgingly persevere though the BS deaths... and I'm ok with losing the maps/bonuses and importantly TIME... but XP loss was (and remains) the only reason my support has stopped flowing. It really has to go. Hardcore already exists for the masochistic typees.

I disagree 100%. Death has no meaning without penalty.
Why would I invest in defenses at all if I can just mindlessly keep dying.

This is a perspective from someone who is neither employed nor engaged in any hobbies or being fanatic. Come on! The vast majority—99%—of people want to unwind after work and take their dogs for a walk, not feel frustrated by a game!
For all the people trying to compare this to Soulslike games they all seem to forget that Souls games give you an opportunity to recover your progression (souls = xp/currency) and never steals your loot. In fact, if you do lose a piece of loot there are specific mechanics in place to ensure you can get it.

The Souls games are difficult, but not excessively punishing. They are very rewarding.

This game is lacking the rewards and excessively punishing.

The current XP loss mechanic in POE2 ensures two things. It increases my frustration when I die from offscreen one shot attacks or invisible death pools, or some other unfair death, and it ensures that I never try real endgame content (things that aren't generic maps) unless I have recently leveled or lost all level progress already.

Terrible game design.
