Trading sucks because Divs aren't valuable
" and the rocks have properties the gold doesnt have. i think rocks have been far more crucial to the development of human civilisation than gold has. but its rare, like a divine is rare. the argument being made was that rarity and desirability were 'fake' value and that gold matters because of its utility. stones have had more utility, you could argue dirt has too. i think farming and buildings have mattered more to human existence than anything gold has done for us because of its chemical properties. i think the majority of golds perceived value through the ages is a social contract largely based on aesthetics and rarity. it has actual uses, yeah, a divine has actual uses too. so youre right, you state both those things i think and of course theyre also true. i didnt mean to imply it had 0 use, only that its a bad example of a material thats value is primarily utilitarian even if we did still have the gold standard which we dont. we didnt build cities that enabled civilisation from gold, we mostly created frivolous ornaments. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
