PoE first impression: Feels like 10 year old game...

I like how this game actually has darkness in it.
There aren't a bunch of inexplicable torches or ambient coloured fog that ruin the environments.

It's so rare in games these days.
My only issue with the map is that it's generic and it feels like the waypoints have just been slapped over. There is no correspondance between say, valleys and the camps, or a forest seen on the map, or river and such.

As much as I love PoE, I have to admit the combat animations feel somewhat sticky and slow to react. I've seen many people point this out and I think GGG has taken note of it.

I notice a huge difference with "sticky and slow to react" when using slow weapons and fast weapons. When using a weapon with fast attack speed, I had no problems with "sticky and slow" for the most part. Using a slower weapon, I did.

I think what it comes down to is the character animation having to finish its attack before being able to do anything else. I find using a fast bow 100x easier to kite and move with on my Ranger as opposed to using a .95 speed 2hander on my Templar. With the Templar, it always feels like there's a "lag" in when I press something to when he does it. But its not lag, its just the animations having to finish before you can do anything else.

I would assume that is a feature but maybe not.

Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.
