Diablo 4 sucks, but it got one thing right that PoE 2 doesn’t

D4’s endgame is stale as fuck. On this we can all agree. But Blizzard got one thing right that PoE 2 absolutely sucks at - the frequency with which you have to visit an NPC to clear inventory.

Making a portal mid-map to go talk to some NPC feels like shit. I’m using the absolute strictest version of NeverSink’s endgame filter and I modded it to be even more strict, but I still find myself leaving maps pretty frequently to go slam exalts and sell / disenchant gear.

In D4 you can easily do multiple pit runs or nightmare dungeons before needing to go back to town. Even if you pick up literally everything that might be useful you can still make it through one complete run before your inventory is full, so you can develop a nice cadence that doesn’t detract from the flow of gameplay.

PoE 2 fails miserably at this, and it takes away from what makes the game great - killing monsters and clearing maps.

Constant inventory management is not a feature. It’s a nuisance. The game would be far better if trips to town were fewer and further between.

If you're looting everything that drops, then you entered a world of pain for sure. It may be your thing, or a kink or something, in which case a loot filter might help you forget there are hundreds of useless things on the ground.

Praising D4 for how little loot it provides made me chuckle a little though. It wasn't my experience - and in saying that i'm using restraint to the fullest extent.

As I noted in the original post, I am using the strictest possible version of NeverSink. If I hold ALT to see hidden loot there’s so much shit everywhere that I can’t even pick up items. My character is just frozen with indecision.

Even with the filter, if you’re picking up rares, waystones, currency etc. it fills up insanely fast. That’s the point.

Ideally there should be less, more impactful loot or we should be able to fit more into our inventory IMO.
On day one there was less loot, and people whined so it got buffed.

If you're dropping so much loot that hitting alt is causing your character to freeze, then you are specifically juicing maps with more mobs and more quant (and probably running breach). You are telling the game to give you lots of drops, why are you surprised when it does?

Now do helltide

The one thing diablo got right was accessibility options on console

Coming up a bit blank after that
i just wish we had a way bigger inventory. If the point is to artificially increase game durability it's total bs and does not make much sense tbh. If there's other point i'm missing let me know. Game would be better with bigger inventory can't see how anyone would disagree.
yeah most of D4s content gets this bit very very wrong. some of their content gets its right.

but i do agree with the principal and i do like diablo content where loot drops at the end. Grs in D3 for example i preferred to poe1 maps in a lot of ways because i blast through, loot at the end, run 2 or 3 in a row before i have to vendor. awesome.

ive posted that many times in these forums. the devs have said before they think it doesnt fit with the arpg game loop.

i do have mixed feelings now. i wonder if this is simply a symptom of a degenerate gigablaster speed meta playstyle and actually having to slow down is a good thing. cause theres a pressure here now where if you want to go faster it means you need to pick up less stuff, so you get less stuff and that has a balancing factor between someone who goes slow and gets all the loot vs someone who goes fast and only gets a fraction of the loot, hence they get closer to a similar amount of loot.

rather than an alternative where the person going faster also gets all the loot that drops and hence is just getting way more rewards than a slower player.

i dunno, maybe theres a tradeoff there thats actually healthy?

mmm. mixed feelings on it.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

you could do what the rest of the sweat lords do and do your slams while in there?..
D3 fixed that first more or less and did 2 other good things.

They removed Magic Find and they removed Movement Speed on Boots.

That's just about all they did right.

The only thing D4 got right - and I mean A++, is their controller to keyboard support. It is perfect.

Other than that, there’s too many dev teams working on one project and they’ve managed to trivialize all of the content.
