Really wish this was an MMO
Give the team a few years. They are laying the Wraeclast foundations now. What I believe is that PoE will be great success and help GGG to stabilize financially. As a result, this will allow further expansion including full-fledged MMORPG, the one you are dreaming about.
Look at the Runic - they are going similar path: Torchlight 1 (just like D1) -> Torchlight 2 (just like D2) -> Torchlight MMORPG (just like the Blizzard North's unfinished D3 from 2003). |

" Have you seriously been playing any MMOs at all? If you do, you would know that's called "PKing", not PvP. Sweeping Maid

" semantics. PKing is only possible on PvP servers. I've never seen a "PKing" server in a game. I don't have sig :D -- gracy123

Sacred 2 felt like an mmo at times with it's 16 player limit, open world and respawning enemies.
I must admit I've always fancied a persistent open gameworld but with D2 style game mechanics. Some games have a town area that allows for lots of people in the same area but that is not the same thing,Twoworlds 2 has this but doesn't really give the mmo experience of an open persistent world same with Guild wars. |

" Many old MMOs(mostly asian ones that never got a english version), didn't have PK only servers, PK and non-PK were mixed. All you had to do was hold down control key or something and PK the fuck out of people... Of course granted this annoyed a lot of people, so as time passed, PK Only servers options were added. " It's funny you say this because I've never played WoW, but you are pretty close to the truth. One of the primary motivators in the MMO Hunt is to find a game that compares to the memory of some classic game you've once enjoyed. For me, that is Diablo and Diablo 2. Even then, I only started playing those because my local arcade sold their Gauntlet series ;P Likewise, I've played more traditional MMORPGs looking for something I could get into as much as I did EQ a long time ago.. but not even EQ itself fulfilled this. I guess I've realized that it's no longer fun grinding solely in order to watch a number grow larger, such that you can defeat enemies with larger stats in a similar number of hits as you could previously with lower stats and weaker enemies; the exception being games that retain that classic hack and slash feel that I fell in love with playing Gauntlet in my youth. I think I've finally found that with PoE, from everything I've seen and heard so far :D Devolving Wilds

Keep it civil, there's no need for ironic flaming.
There's a dev diary on the whole PoE is an MMO crap: http://www.pathofexile.com/news/2010-11-29/dev-diary4 I don't think PoE is an MMO just because it has online RPG/social elements added to it. But I could be biased since I have a sour disposition to games that openly identify as MMOs because the gameplay is always watered down and exhaustingly boring to me. |
