Could we please have a SSF solution similar to the last Epoch's Circle of Fortune?
Hello!
As stated above, I'm now playing PoE 2 in SSF since the market was flooded and destroyed and to be honest, I am having a great time! Would it be possible to make SSF a different mode rather than a challenge mode and implement an atlas to influence the drop rate as LE did? I hope this idea will have a follow-up, I think PoE 2 could use this solution for the many people who do not enjoy the trading system. Last bumped on Jan 14, 2025, 4:09:26 PM

Can we have an elaboration?
I have not played Last Epoch. |

Short version is that if you're in that mode, you get a bunch of extra drops and a targeting system for item categories, but all extra items dropped that way can only be used while in that mode, which is mutually exclusive with the mode that allows buying and selling items with other players.

So you want ssf to have an upside to playing it?
No thanks I like ssf being the challenge it is |

Its clear they think their vision is perfect and won't do this.

" In LE you get to choose whether you want to play 'trade' faction or 'ssf' faction. Trade faction gets access to ingame auction house and can buy/sell items on it. All the items sold/bought get trade faction tagged and can't be used by players having ssf faction active. SSF faction gets increased drops on certain item types and an ability to target farm specific item types (for example unique rings) via end-game activities (monoliths/dungeons/arenas). Items that were acquired by those target-farm activities or lucky drops via increased chances are tagged with ssf tag and can't be used by other players unless they have ssf tag too. You can trade items to other players if they were present on the same instance when the item dropped, so it's kind of "group ssf". You can also trade items to other players if you play together for prolonged periods of time earning affinity currency. That currency is spent on trading items that were acquired outside of playing together (i.e. you grinded solo and got a nice drop for your playmate so after playing some time together you can trade that item to them). There is no trade available by default. |

" That sounds like a good remedy to droprates being gutted because of Rarity. Though I think removing Rarity + the balancing around it completely would already solve the issue. TY btw for typing it up :) Last edited by Fae_Lyth#6750 on Jan 13, 2025, 9:22:46 AM

" Yeah, I think it's a brilliant implementation that lets people choose the way the want to play and it doesn't prevent small-group-ssf people from playing with friends and sharing the drops. And the whole 'target-farm' system is customizable but you need to actively play the game to earn the currency that is used by that system to earn 'prophecies' which are basically mini quests to get specific type+rarity items by defeating bosses / specific monsters or clearing number of waves in arena. It's probably one of the few things that LE did right and it could be re-used by other developers to somewhat make SSF less miserable compared to trade leagues. |

circle of fortunes pretty garbage tbh but its way better than nothing and definitely adds legs to the SSF experience.
I do think GGG are missing a trick with this one, I realise that they tie the platforms together and so want SSF to just be optional extra difficulty but there are a substantial number of players that enjoy playing without trading and want to be enabled in that regard rather than just be told its extra difficulty. Potential downside of this is less players in SC Trade which honestly won't have any real impact as there are so many already, but less players in HC trade would certainly have an impact (and its where I generally play). |

" I think so too, this is a great opportunity for GGG to have another way for people to enjoy the game. You can have min-maxers to still play the trading system and other players who want to stay out of the market system to still be able to close their builds with sub-optimal gear and/or in a longer time. You can even keep an SSF challenge mode as it is now, for whomever wants to suffer needlessly since the lack of a crafting system atm. |
