How about removing white items drops completely?

I like the idea of finding a good white base and crafting it up. I assume our current situation where “crafting” is just slowly identifying a rare is largely temporary while they work on figuring out what the crafting system should be.

It might be ok if you know how to configure your own loot filter so you only see the ones you want, but for those who don't it's a pain in the ass to read through all the white stuff to find the ones you need for crafting, remembering the names etc.
Coming back without any quirky jokes this time.

So the "problem" I can think of that this would introduce ( although personally I don't mind/care ) is that in order to do this you would need a vendor to always sell you whites. And I mean always and with an infinite number, not as your typical vendors that are "rotating" stuff randomly. Because plenty like to craft on whites.

Imagine all the people currently trying to "farm" stellar amulets which is under "rng" as they're trying to convert them into an Astramentis or whatever they're trying to do.

You then pretty much give them a vendor with an infinite supply of white stellars that they can Chance into eternity as well. That would break the "economy" even worse and way faster.

The only way this could be "toned down" is if the vendor just had "white amulet" and you'd be getting a random one each time but still it can be spammed to infinity if you have the gold for it, so it would still just delay the inevitable.

Again personally I don't mind I'm barely dealing with trade as it is ( and most likely going to go SSF on my next character ).

As for "all the items" I don't agree on that aspect at all, one of the biggest pleasures of arpgs let's not forget is when the sexy item you want finally drops from a mob or boss, it's not on a 'vendor', although the drops here have been so silly that I might actually prefer vendor tbh if it continues being like this, I'm already hiding everything from my filters and I went super specific with them.

Does my point of view make sense ?

They could scale the price for the really valuable amulets. Then they'd still have to farm gold to be able to buy so many. Just like they would otherwise farm the amulets.

Well a "white" isn't that much valuable in the first place as a "base item". So you can't really move away from that imho.

You can't make everyone suffer a hefty price on a white just because it can possibly be turned into one of the best Uniques.. some will never even use that unique at the end of the day and they just want to craft a rare with just +resistances and be happy about it.

And then selling them in town. This would help a lot in not needing a loot filter and it's honestly not very fun to be in search of white items anyway.

A more extreme idea would be to remove pretty much all item drops and only have currency drops, then sell white items in town as mentioned earlier. This would absolutely remove the need for loot filters. I would prefer this but I imagine some people like finding items immedietly.

Edit: To clarify, you could buy endless amounts of all white items in town at the highest available tier for your level.

Stupid.
My thoughts on this are that they should implement an actual crafting system (not this gambling thing that every ARPG calls crafting) and use the white items as the base items to craft specific stats that are in a random range for the base item. Then have dropped loot have the potential to be one to two tiers higher than what is able to be crafted. Keeping everything based on RNG is both irritating and frustrating as hell. It is NOT FUN.

It doesn't need to be that expensive, sure maybe this would lead to it being easier to get some uniques, but as it is right now is it really finding white bases that stops people from spamming chance orbs or is it the chance orbs being expensive?
the thing with crafting in poe, in 2013 when the game went into open beta we didnt have essences, fossils, crafting bench, annuls, eternals, rog, beast alter, oils, influence exalts, eldritch currencies, harvest bench, syndicate benches, vaal orbs, locus corrupter, catalysts, gravecrafting, synth bases, crucible, the krangler...

this game is going to be adding something new every 3 months for at least a decade. alternation/chaos spam was a degenerate mess that needed to go. what we got now is very bare bones, sure, thats probably a good thing.

stuff will come, and it will keep coming, there will come a day when you think fuck sake, enough already stuffing stuff into this bloated bloody game wtf?? just stop adding things.

and they wont, they will keep going because thats how this works.

lets not start the next decade of stuffing prebloated. we will get there, dont worry.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
