Why are we still identifying items?

I do think ID scrolls should be done away with though, Just give us a button like tp that takes like 1sec an item or like 10 sec for the full inventory

That's a good idea. There is a button for TP and one could be for ID.
This unidentified crap is BS and creates unnecessary friction to gameplay. An ARPG which is all about loot and it makes looting a chore. Magic and Rares should drop identified and filtered to player choice since they are the base of the crafting system. Uniques can remain as unidentified.

Bases dropping as unidentified really kills the looting experience.
all these weird requests of removing game features left and right feels like these gamers came from mobile gaming... where the games plays itself.

There was an interview a while back with lead dev and he talked about this.

From what I understand from that he has two big reasons for keeping it in.
Essentially its so that they can get a free double hit of dopamine.

The second is so that you pick up and look at more items. Otherwise players will filter out anything that's not good.

Sounded reasonable at the time. However this is one of the guys who also thought that forcing sanctum on players was also a good idea. Clearly because its still in the game, and he could have shot it down. So I do not really trust the vision of GGG that much atm.

Dopamine and drops. Sure. You get that maybe for stuff which is obivious anyway like high end currency drops or high value uniques. Is there really any player in the game who thinks (after the campaign) YEAAAH! A YELLOW! HOW GOOD WILL IT BE???

I think my loot filter shows a yellow maybe every 1-3 maps. And ofc, its total crap every time

Maybe it's a bit different in SSF, but I dont play that because I like to keep my sanity

This is just vile. I’m adhd and I’m struggling with dopamine every single day. And then these mfers come with “double dopamine hit” to abuse my brain? Fucking vile man.
There is a technical limitation of the game and others do have the same issue just deal with it differently

What is not required is having to use a scroll, it makes very early game annoying when id'ing every item is a requirement and later game just takes up an inventory slot

Make it so either no scroll, or auto id when you pick something up
I prefer games where you need to identify items. I like this extra dopamine hit when something turns out to be nice. So for me, it is nothing to talk about, this system should stay.
Just imagine a 10 breach with 200% quant all the beautiful item names that would take up the entire screen and push items off and make it extremely buggy to even attempt to pickup. (This already happens with just the base Names As Is).

I can tell OP hasn't ran the Quant Breaches yet.

Okay? And?

Sounds like you have identified a related problem that also needs to be fixed. Throw it on the pile, bro.
