Eh, can't dodge enemy arrows even with high run speed and you ran perpendicular to them? Thought it was down to how fast the arrows were themselves that they are really hard to dodge than that they don't "miss". Enemies tend to move towards you, so the challenge of hitting them wouldn't increase that severely.

@ the arrows
Arrows mechanic is made based on delay, meaning you cant evade the arrow at all, the dmg is just applied with delay giving the illusion that arrow need to hit you to deal dmg. Its basicaly like melee attack just that the dmg it deal is delayed by 0.5sec ,but no matter what it still will be applied if you failed evasion rolls. IMO all projectiles should be evadable manualy, they could also add a "block" skill that allow you to use skill to block/parry/evade manualy like in some fighting games. Additionaly to that, if arrows would be evadable they should have reduced dmg the closer you are to the archer. Since then it turn evading to impossible, so penalizing the melee chars if no dmg reduction is applied. |

I think the random element is too important to remove it, but I do like the idea of dungeons that reward you with specific crafting possibilities instead of items, as an alternative to some very rare currency items

Discussing about examples is useless (they are just meant to help getting what i meant), you can also compare a 4linked item with a 1 socket (unlinked of course). if you want them to reach 5 there is no difference in both. my suggestion will give you the difference in qualaity between two items in general. it would still be luck to find a good one and get relatively good stats and sockets (which means less time to spent on improving it). what i really dont like is that you "work" to improve your items (e.g. to farm orbs) and actually can destroy them with that or make them much worse. if you farm eq that could only improve, but not loose. this would be the same as if there is a chance to loose xp if you KILL an enemy. But it seems you got what i meant in general. @others if someone says that you can evade flicker strike, cold snap or bows than proof it atleast. being able to evade means that if you are good enough you will never get hit. of course i realized that those sometimes dont hit too, but that more a random thing. Theres also a difference between skill and tactics, some may not see. making a build or choosing spells or the optimal gear for a fight is tactics. skill is to do it, skill is to be quick, react to opponents as fast as possible, evade, aim perfectly. in most game you need both, but they are not the same. Especially because you can read guides or get builds out of the internet, which cant be considered skill. skill cannot be done from others for you, tactics can. @Wittgenstein This is not a true Suggestion thread. I only pointed out some stuff that wrong with this game from my point of view. You all feel free to do suggestions. maybe you can replace treasures with the anvil, or put those anvils at the end of every dungeon after reaching ruthless. and maybe you can make it disappear if you die once there. just some examples how you can make it. dont see it as fixed, if there are problems try to work out the system. |

For *fixing* chances to forge links (namely for torso armor and 2H weapons) ...
I would suggest a pattern vendor. Basically an NPC that can display several options for all sorts of link variations for the item you'd feed them. Like 2L, 3L, 4L etc. The price for each combo-link would go up to the point of say 500 Fusings for a perfect 6L. The idea for a guaranteed 6L *craft* has been brought up a few times in global chat. Only wanted to describe one way for an approach to implement this here. I don't think this is in line with the game designers' vision though. Have to keep trying :) If you're leaving PoE, chances are I'll rezz you as my minion! MWHAHAHAH

Looks like a simple and good working suggestion. I assume this also contains price reduction for already good items, means you pay maybe 200 fusing orbs to get a 6 linked out of a 5 linked, 50 for a 4 linked to 5 linked, 20 for a 4 linked etc. but 300 to get a 6 linked out of a 3 linked. I think the prices are still too high but most people like the grinding of stuff. to get a 4 linked you probably need less than 20 orbs with the random way (even at average).

OMG. Spent 400 fusings and still no 6 linked. Well congrats, mate. You just discovered one of the currency (and time) sinks. Its easy to generate more currency. The economical aspect of this will not change. You can always /rageuninstall if you don't like it. You won't be missed.
Ranged attacks seem to be frustrating many ppl at the moment. I'm with White on this issue. Also, as replied somewhat sarcastically to me in another thread (but I deserved it), there are various strategies in another thread to deal with it. Remember when cold snap spam froze you from off screen? or Hailrake's Ice Spear spam? Even the archers have been nerfed. they could shoot you from off screen as well. Now they only shoot from less than half a screen away. This was in patch 0.97 or 0.98 was it? Oh the forum rage (I raged about the cold snap lol) Then you go and say GGG can't do anything and everything right. Ah well. This is beta. Addit: with the current wave of thread consolidations, perhaps this thread should be merged into the hitscan thread.
