Losing an entire map when you die feels terrible
I'm ok with losing xp and the wp when I die in a map but losing the whole map that I spent literally 10 hours to go around and activate all the towers around it is just extremely unrewarding. Now my juiced boss map is just a clear blue dot.
If I'm going to die to random effects that both shock me and take my 9k hp down to zero in a blink of an eye, I would at least like another try. I know there are people here who are going to say "git gud" or "that's how the game is my guy." And that's fine. If this is how GGG wants the game to be they should know that every time I lose a map like this I go and play another game for an hour or two. It feels like my map gets ruined every time I die and I am even further away from getting any decent gear. I didn't pick hardcore for a reason. Last bumped on Jan 2, 2025, 12:16:51 AM

im not a fan of how it currently works.
i get that they want to stop people from repeat farming/exploiting good nodes and thats fine but i hate losing the node bonuses and any loot that i havent picked up. i hope GGG gives us a middle ground something along the lines of us being able to fight our way back through the same map, collect our loot, WITH THE EXCEPTION that the mobs we killed the first time wont drop any more loot or give more xp. to me, this sounds like a decent compromise for the devs and the players. the penalty for dying in a map is lost time and lost XP. with a give & take like this i personally wouldnt mind the xp loss at all. an added bonus: people can go back and figure out WHY they died. " ^ this happens entirely too often and its effectively never from a rare monster. its always some stupid white mob (looking at you eternal knights). needs to change. Yep, these hardcore mechanics need to be removed from softcore. It just makes people not want to play the game, its simply bad game design.

" I would 100% get on board with this. I can see how people could exploit farming a good node by abusing death mechanics otherwise. Honestly it hadn't even occured to me but makes a lot of sense now. Some middle ground needs to be forged. |

I don't like loosing everything when you die in map either.
Currently we loose: 1. XP 2. All the loot on the ground that is not picked up 3. All portals 4. the waystone we used to open the map. This is a bit to punshing indeed. I would rather see the portal stays and that you can complete the map. Mechanics in the map can be disabled if you die. damaged mobs can reset health and so on. but please do not close all portals. |

Regular Maps I don't really have a huge issue with it as boss maps are a dime a dozen, you always lost your map even in PoE 1 once it was in the map device and xp loss, while I don't like it is most likely going to stay.
The only one I think we should have more chances at are Citadels and Pinnacle bosses. These are far too uncommon for them to be 1 and done I think it should be 3 attempts for these and make it per party member. |

" This is the middle ground, their original plan was that the node was marked failed and you could no longer try it again or path through it. I have not died to a random one-shot since they fixed the chaos damage and removed the chaos bomb on death. Every death is one I knew was likely to happen, but I went for it anyway. You aren't really losing the map, you lost the entry token (which drop quite easily, just pulled 8 T15 out of one map). You lost the bonus content that you get if you completed it on the first try. You did get to keep anything you had already picked up. And before some idiots start talking about hardcore, there is NOTHING hardcore about this mechanic or xp loss on death. Softcore does not mean zero consequence for failure. Your character is not being deleted or removed from the league, it is not hardcore. |

" 1. Yes, you lose 10% of xp (if you are over level... 70 I believe). 2. You didn't lose anything, it wasn't yours as you hadn't picked it up. 3. Portals aren't a thing of value, so you didn't lose anything. 4. Waystone sure, but that was the entry token to try and is extremely easy to replace. So, didn't really lose much besides some xp. |

" yes im aware that they have already made some changes, i just dont think it was a proper solution and i think they will/should iterate on it further. |

" I have zero desire for your input on this, or anything ever tbh. This is feedback for the devs. Not "Git Gud" basement dwellers who no life one game. |
