I really don't like POE1 in my POE2
+1 to OP great post

" whats that saying? "its a fluid situation"? POE1 seasons always have this same thing where some tiny % of players who are instantly knee jerk upset flood reddit/forums and yeet out some super hot take over the top "pay attention to me!!!" rants about how bad the new league is. The most well loved POE1 leagues had multi thousand upvoted "this sucks" type threads, Settlers, Breach, Affliction, you name it every single league there's a couple thousand really motivated "I've got 5 hours into the new league and it feels like you shot my dog" posts. This is the same phenomenon, its starting to settle down and people are learning the ways to turn POE2 into a POE1 clone. I guarantee you right now some people who posted "I hate this its not POE1 and its too hard AND I QUIT FOREVER AND EVER" are right now shitting on endgame after a couple days of pretending they quit. Its why I think GGG should only take feedback from systematic polling and a filtered version of the forum. Imagine the selection bias of always paying attention to the most howling mad and deranged takes? Like seriously they should tag users who can express feedback without tencent conspiracy theories and "chris wilson kicked my dog" hyperbole, and filter the noise makers out. A feedback loot filter so to speak. Unfortunately they often make drastic changes that worsen the game that never get revisited in the light of reason. To throw a random mechanic out there: Delve used to have a mob that was scary as shit, it turned off your light. The nerfed this so hard it was never scary again. Sad. It was a cool monster, but some babies screamed because they can't click a second button to throw a flare and well POE1 got a little worse and a little more trivial. Death by a thousand cuts over and over and now POE1 is a joke. Just like those players like it... nice and trivial and 1 button and nothing fights back. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4. If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. " Pointless and misleading, but I hope that late game will change to be more inline with campaign. |

" or maybe : 1 campaign is different from endgame 2 a lot of the complainers left the game or just didnt come back to the forum once they did the feed back . and more people are reaching the endgame especially those that like the campaign speed. they are now discovering endgame and that maybe it s not all rainbows and sunshine. personnally i didnt up full give up on poe 2. i try from time to time to advance my warrior reroll but it is such a slog. never feels good. started reroll in poe1 in vaguely ssf style and it feels good. lvl 85. your patience is not ruined when you encounter an actual problem in your build in poe 1 and you have to take your time to think and slowly upgrade it. the just push one button image is so completely wrong btw unless you have full phd in the game or you copypaste meta shit/league starter skills with full trading on. noone is putting a gun on your head to use the few divines you get or chaos to go on trade and buy everything. " SSF is for the majority a private experience. The joy of something that's "live" or "alive" is well known to be what drives human interest and "community" sharing and enjoyment. There's plenty of alternative ideas that PoE2 could of done to integrate trading properly and balance things for a mainstream "online" game, they ofc we're pretty split in the ballpark of "is this an online experience or a solo experience". GGG can achieve more, however this is ofc early access and I'm certainly not in doomer mode but they're certainly not showing any attempt of strength in their online capabilities ie, "wow look 100k items in the trading", that's just a mess! No getting around it. Last edited by TrunktenUK#3407 on Jan 3, 2025, 2:46:53 AM

" You are goddamn right about selective bias . I do hope the endgame content being what it is was because of a "let's get players something to grind upon until we figure out how to flesh out PoE 2 late game with the current vision" , GGG got something here but beyond the missing content there's a massive work of balancing that needs to be done . " There's always a minority of haters and among that minority some may put their money where their mouth is and quit . But i do not believe one second they dropped ship in drove due to how strong the numbers of the last season and this EA has been so far . As for Warrior being a slog = yes he damn is . Armor mechanics is a broken mess that make most melee characters unsafe playing with . As for Mace skills they are deeply flawed ( just like Wind / Physical Quarterstaves Skills of the Monk ) , right now the only way out for farming high tier content is to have your character zooming around with 10K of ES while 1) hitting every frame on the screen or 2) deleting all the screen every hit ... the Warrior struggle badly at doing any of that and that's by design . There is an enormous work of rebalancing to be done here and if anything GGG got it wrong big time when they did their own kneejerk reaction by nerfing Warrior high risk high reward attack in the first update . I'm not a poe1 player and am actually quite new to the genre as a whole. I've played around with my first few characters and was enjoying the content till I hit a massive roadblock being really low DPS. Tried to make some changes but the gold costs ate up my gold, mind you I didn't know at first my gold was shared across my characters. I honestly really want to play around with the skill tree and get to learn it myself, but I'm not really allowed to... anyway that was redundant. What I'm really trying to get at is after I failed, I decided to look up a streamer build a friend recommended and I used it up till I got to the Ziggurat Encampment end-game stuff. To my surprise the build is really strong, like really strong. I don't frequent PoE2 content much, I do see the random recommendations for these OP builds, but I feel it is very counter intuitive to what little I have heard about what the devs wanted with PoE2. A slower paced approach to the game that has you engage with mob and boss mechanics. Despite my first failure my other characters I went way safer and built into abilities I thought were good and managed my way into act 3 cruel with one being my DeadEye Ranger. However after using that streamer build on my newest character, I have to say that I was upset seeing it's capability at wiping mobs and bosses with relative ease, aka boss fights lasted no more than 2-5 seconds and just overall skipping any engagement with what the campaign has to offer. Now on the characters I built myself I had way more fun going through the campaign than I did on the streamer build character and honestly I am having less fun with the game, however the end-game content is definitely not geared toward that slower approach the campaign wants to be played as and I doubt any of my other characters could challenge the end-game, it seems as if these streamer builds are what it's meant for and it's such a let down. So far I heavily enjoy playing through the campaign. The massive size of areas could be slightly tuned down or at least more meaningful waypoints as some of them feel redundant/out of place and others are just non-existent giving you a long empty boring jog to get to one so you can TP around. End-game though is... I think the giant map with different areas to go to and slotting in those waypoints is cool, but when you're actually in those maps the shift from that amazing campaign to a rogue-lite feels off, which is why I said it feels as though it's more for those 1 tap streamer builds that don't really want to engage with the content and just progress progress progress just for the sake of it. I get it you want to see how far your build can take you, and by all means I do as well, but the approach is harsh and fast paced, while the campaign is fleshed out and wants you to engage with it. especially the random lore bits scattered across each act, this I like.
I didn't mention anything about the loot or "crafting" which is just a nonsense gambling sim to hit that dopamine for addicts. I actually absolutely hate gambling and it's possibly my biggest gripe with the "crafting". I refuse trading through a website. I don't want to delve into that at all. Now back to my redundant ranting any of you can skip out on reading this portion; I want to be able to experiment more with my characters without having to sink in a ton of hours grinding gold or restarting the campaign on a new character, if I do make a new character it's not because I want to re-make my entire build but just going on a slightly different route on my nodes, but because I want to play a different Ascendancy or an entirely new class all together. Sure early on, the costs aren't really all that much, but they do stack and can be costly if you need to make any more changes than just a few nodes. Messing around with the newest character I have at end-game the costs are getting much much higher. On that new character at end-game, gold grinding isn't too much of an issue but again your build has to at least be viable to do so decently. Truthfully I don't want to go looking at streamer builds, I want to run everything blind and enjoy what the game has to offer, as that is where the fun factor is for me, but when I hit such a heavy roadblock and I have to respec, look for new gear, check out my skills and their supports etc. the time sink isn't respectful toward the player at all. I'm sure the majority don't find this an issue and I'm just another small voice in a vast sea of small voices. Having to restart because I'm forced to restart and not because I want to in order to try different classes/ascendancy's (It would be quicker to just make a new character and grind levels than sink in hours to mess around with respeccing) It starts to become less fun, and I'm more about the fun factor of games than I am about artificial difficulties purely meant to be there to hamper you, because the 1% that would abuse it. There could be a way to slightly have it not be abused, by making it so that you couldn't respec during a map in end-game. Either don't start one up or do it after you complete one. Well anyway it's 6am this was just a rant on my end as a newbie to the genre and a newbie to PoE as a whole, please take it with a grain of salt, as I'm sure my opinion may change the more I play and get to know the game and as the development cycle get's further and further into release. " well imo you can. was even true with streamers during kalandra league. a torrent of dissastisfaction videos and posts then people leaved en masse and mathil was the only big streamer left. that s how it works. sure some will say anything but most at mininimum will leave forum. lukcily this time it s not as horrible cold sorc was already a slog too. for me it s the game move speed, cast speed, map size, repetition of combos hours after hours. but cold spells are also a pain in the ass bomb is 3 sec delay cold "meteor" +1 sec to total cast time. and you re tempted to echo it giving even more cast time wall is great when monster explodes it by simply pushing it but a lot of time they dont. and you have to explode it. or you can go play spark lol. maybe in endgame if you scale enough you can use a better cold clear skill. who knows i am already sleeping. unfortunatly i chose 2 of the archetypes where you have to treat the game as a spreadsheet and go totem/warcry/staff or spark. now think how many percentage of people did the same. on maybe 2-3 million players. that s a looooooooooooooooooooot of potential complainers. and a looot will quit. people dont have time to test all classes all archetypes and give a "balanced" response. anyway we will soon see what ggg choses. slog, unbalanced mess, or more reasonable speed.
