Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?

On the bright side, once you reach 0%, you will not lose xp on death!

In POE1 Hard, I only did bosses once I was on 0% XP. So Just after I had leveled up, or died a bunch of times.

I mean, thats what the game is encouraging you to do. The Reward is not enough to make up for the risk. So only try when there is no risk at all.
I don't care about XP loss unless I look down and see my bar at more than 75% full or so

Then I might be a little less cavalier. Anything less than that it's not worth sweating about otherwise it'll take forever

Or use an omen, that's what they're there for. Like car insurance

omen of amelioration is not a great solution, way to expensive for all the players who have problems with xp loss. This mechanic is very discouraging and I suggest to make it optional (better rewards if you use it, for example).
What you're all demanding is the removal of a challenge some people enjoy. A way to play pretend hardcore without the permanent loss that offers. Omen is a way to avoid that, at a cost, but still a way of avoiding it

Maybe those omens should be more common, difficult to say really I don't know how much they are currently

the point of playing the game is playing the game. the point of playing a game is not some reward the game gives you.
I play to get to 100 every season I play. But I don't expect it and I've only actually done it once. But I don't resent those who do get there and it gives me something to shoot for and I can confidently say at the end of season when I don't make it that "I didn't play enough" was not the only factor. If that was the case I would be far more likely to say this game does not respect my time

There we go.

So, you want to play a challenge mode without play the challenge mode that is already implemented in the game. But, you want that all the other players that don't want to play hardcore to endure a hardcore mechanic that they don't signed for when clicked Standard.

Double standards we call it, right?
No, it's a function that's been in the game since I started playing it

Plenty of seasons I can't be arsed with it, again no matter it's only a number

I don't have the time or patience to play hardcore proper but I ENJOY THIS ASPECT

Also out of context quotes are tiresome either quote the whole context or just don't bother my post was immediately above yours

Those "plenty of seasons" the game provided 6 portals, 6 chances to do a map, get back in and pick your loot, refarm the XP on the same enviroment you lost, learn the boss mechanics - all of it changed for 1 portal BS... so, why the EXP penalty can't change?

"Because it is there since..." - is not a good answer when other staple machanic changed.
