One-shot on Act 2 Colossus in 2000 es+hp and 75% all res. it's a terrible experience.

I got the feeling that fight wasn’t really done. Targeting for most things stinks on it and you can dodge roll out of the arena.

I agree with you, but I play on hardcore. I think this mode is very interesting. And you know for sure that there is only 1 chance. And I came to the boss fully prepared (as I wrote above) and this is in the 2nd act, where players are just introduced to new items, mechanics, spells. But I collected almost everything to the maximum for my hero, I was several levels higher than the location (3-4 levels higher). I will simply describe this so that you understand that these are not empty words. But I really want to draw the attention of the development team to one-shots, which are unacceptable in the introductory acts of the game.

Don't play HC in EA.

If you think that one boss attack was an outlier, boy do T10+ maps have something to show you. If you really want to play HC in EA, press space bar constantly, at any animation a boss is using. Oh, and the hitboxes get a lot more bullshit later as well.

PoE1 is the only aRPG I've never got a level capped HC character in and simply got bored of trying: the reason was (and now, here, "is", present tense): PoE is not good at maths, damage scaling curves or mechanics (*ahem* Armor) that allow it to be played in this way. I have fully capped HC chars in almost all other aRPGs on the market. Not in PoE.

There are very specific builds that might allow you to do HC 100, but they're a tiny minority and there's no skill involved.

Many HC PoE players use macros set to pause the game automatically for them on damage taken etc. There are no truely amazing skilled HC PoE players, because the mechanics are that RNG / wobbly / just plain broken.

~

For reference, I have a lvl 100 HC TL2 full reflect / reaction based gunslinger or whatever it was. Survival based purely on reactions and edging the full reflect chance ever towards 99%. Think timing perfect parries constantly for hours.

In PoE, the mobs reaction times and movement times predict player actions. Their base speed is also x2-3 times faster than the PC's. And the hit is determined before the player reaction is. That's why often dodge rolls have the animation play and you get immediately sniped and/or an effect that is no-where near you does damage. It isn't lag, it's the way the engine works.

Let that sink in.

I agree with you about not playing hardcore mode in early access. But I really hope that the official answer will be something like "yes, this is indeed a bug and we are going to fix it someday." That this is not a mechanic's one-shot. Thank you for sharing your experience
His stab towards the side and dragging the sword inward have a very clearly bugged hitbox.

dude don't you know...on forums and reddit when people die a bunch of times to a boss its def not them or their skill issue but the very foundation of the game. get with the program bro
The attack is very quick and comes out of nowhere. It makes no sense for this crazy fast attack to be a one-shot when a character can tank the slow-ass laser that gives you like 5 minutes to react to.

Always love all the 5 IQ telling on themselves with the "git gud".
You can get oneshot with way more than that. I can go back to that boss with more than twice as much as that and get oneshot usually by that move. The attack is bugged.

I'm no pro but due to it being poorly telegraphed id say it's probably a bug. They are usually pretty clear and have the distinct sound when the boss is going to do a powerful attack, there is no sound cue for this. I've been one shot by it a few times I can see it being frustrating on HC.

I hear what you’re saying but I think you’re missing a fun opportunity by continuing to engage with him and learn his mechanics OR go farm the surrounding areas and level up 4 or 5 more times I promise you it will feel like a different battle.

It'll still one shot you lmao.
As for "learn his mechanics", they aren't really that complicated. He throws a bunch of stuff at you and sometimes stick the knife into the ground and you need to stand behind it, and then he sends minions at you... and the moment you get distracted by the minions for 0.001 seconds he will one-shot you with his ridiculous knife attack which has terrible visibility and is nearly instant.
