endgame citadels

Citadels being 1 death failure is ridiculous considering how hard they are to encounter. Easily 100 hours into mapping and have only found a single one. A single mistake shouldn't result in that much time being nullified, am i going to have to path for another 100 hours in hope of getting another attempt at 1 of the 3 citadels required to progress?

Maybe make them repeatable from the start with a new waystone could be a better way of going about it because in the current state it feels pointless to play any further

I've no idea why some players are offended if there is some optional very hard content in the game. If there is not enough easier content, you can ask to add more, why you would need the game to not have very hard content? Is it just because your ego hurts by the presence of content you can't reach?
i think its less about difficulty and more about content gated by rng. im on 220 hours and did not find a single one to fail at.

Is it that hard to understand that this has nothing to do with the difficulty?
He is not asking to make the boss easier, he just needs more than ONE try, esp when each Citadel cost 50+ hours to find.

If you make Citadel that rare, people are going to get mad when their node got bricked.

Even Elden Ring doesn't do this shit, imagine your boss got removed for 50 hours when you fail your first try.






I'm afraid I have to agree with the OP. I died to ground degen I couldn't even see. It's EA, so they'll address all these visual issues (I hope) moving forward, but the single citadel I've found in two weeks of constant play was lost without recourse. That's not really a reasonable outcome.

Either make them more common, or allow more than one shot - I suspect the one shot paradigm needs to be changed holistically anyway.

Having only one try is about difficulty.

Too low chance to find citadel is not.
i wouldnt even care if it took all of my xp every time i died in a citadel. we need more tries or they need to be more common. 1 and done after 7-10 days of searching is just no fun. Sure if you play 20 hours a day you might encounter these things more but if you have 2-3 hours a day its just not fun mapping every day with no variety.

It takes you from a variety endgame in poe1 in bossing, heist, delve, beasts, crafting, and all the other varietys of league mechanics you can combo. Into just mapping, flat out mapping, nothing else.

It is no surprise it is frustrating whenever you see something new and get rekt and dont even have the opportunity to learn from your mistake as you will likely not even remember what killed you by the time you get into another one.
My take is that because GGG had to rush this EA release pre-Christmas, a lot of things were not properly tested. No one who has experienced this would think it's OK for a niche genre's most hardcore no-lifer to grind the endgame for 100+ hours to get access to a boss only to get one shot in 5 seconds and lose said access. This is not OK anywhere else in life. So clearly it's not tested properly, just like how right now there isn't a single person in the world that has reached lvl100, even those no lifers who have already put in 400-500hours into the game. Like how does that work with the 3 month season model? It doesn't.

It's either that, or it's the devs' way of telling us to stop wasting our time. Shrug/

its not, release was planned for november and they pushed it back until dec 6th.
