Game is too punishing for a Casual players.
" This is where I get my enjoyment, I love the idea a building a long term character and taking on new content with it. And most players will never even get to slowly build as it all disappears. This is unfortunately a game for a small subset of gamers and can never be for the masses. I feel cheated that it was hype so much.
It doesn't disappear, you can just chose to play standard Farming salt on the forums since 2024

" Ok, that makes that problem alot better. Unfortunately the endgame still exists
Playing standard in a live service arpg based around leagues to work around poor and unfun game design decisions is about as unserious a suggestion as there gets. |

" And why is that, usually standard gets access to the league mechanics which go to the standard pool. I really like playing the temp leagues and I don't mind doing the campaign every time - also makes you get a feel for the changes they made, how new skills feel starting from a low level and gives you insight how to adapt to cater your build towards your playstyle. At the same time it refreshes the economy for the temp leagues. Farming salt on the forums since 2024 Last edited by Toaru_Majutsu_no_Index#1288 on Dec 24, 2024, 11:13:26 PM

The problem is this game does a piss poor job explaining how itemization works and the + level stuff is so enormously more valuable than literally every other stat in the game you're better off ignoring everything and just going for that.
If you make a newbie and just wear something that gives even + 2 spell/projectile level the game is much smoother for new players IMO. It would go a long way making sure the item that drops from the introduction just had + level on it IMO. There are other obvious problems of course too... like the vast majority of skills being awful and a waste of time investing too. |

It is too punishing for ANY sane person, not only "not casual".
I've been saying this since launch: people will burn out of this thing less than 3 weeks after playing it. |

" Yeah, usually the league is basically done after a month the most - some players still remain, some come back later to test for some future builds they might do in the next leagues. Some people even farm to get the currency to standard Farming salt on the forums since 2024

If you think the game is punishing as a casual wait till you become an intermediate player it gets even worse because you are good enough to clear t16 maps but will be gatekept from getting best in slot gear due to PoE pros who took advantage of broken builds who are farming like 10-20 divines an hour making your paltry 20-30 exalts an hour completely worthless in trade league.

Developers, you would win big by putting up a sign in the office with "Challenging not punishing" in big bold letters as a design philosophy going forward.

" They have been marketing the biggest, most long living and imo best arpg for the last decade by not following your philosophy. Think about that Farming salt on the forums since 2024

I feel much safer in this game than I ever was in PoE1. Active block and dodge roll make me no longer feel like a sitting duck as I was in PoE1. For this alone, the game is way easier than its predecessor (and I hope they kill it that way).
Also, we don't encounter mobs with 500% speed, insane health regen, elemental immunity and what not. I can't imagine going back to the first game. |
