Right now myself and a few others I know (brother and his wife) are having problems with the Trial of Chaos. We basically skipped it and have started cruel difficulty.
I don’t think skipping it is the answer or being carried is the answer.
The game is great and not throwing the baby out with the bath water, but there might need to be some tuning of this trial.
I agree Chaos does need some adjustment on the quest version of it, it's a bit rough. Later in the game it's very doable.
You can ignore it completely and just use Sekema for all of your points if you prefer. Later, when we get the rest of the acts, there will be a 3rd option as well.
Hmm maybe I missed something with Selena. I ran through it again and completed it but didn’t get any extra points to spend.
Is there something specific I need to set the trial to get points?

Or....and this is just a suggestion...
You can not interact with this mechanic and let those who enjoy it keep it as it is?
I'd love it if that was an option. That's how I handled the entire SEASON of POE that used the stupid honor mechanic. Unfortunately in this case, you must finish this thing in order to start your ascendancy, so if you "don't interact" with it, you only get part of the game.

For each ascendency you need to do it at higher levels. Sekema is easy to understand, one floor = 1 set of points. Each token (both Sekema and Chaos) will tell you if you get points for doing it.

It is an option. There are currently 2 ways to ascend, with a 3rd planned. You can do any of them you want, you are not forced to do specific ones.

Why dont you people just stop crying and start learning? Ascendancy trials are easy as fk.
always amuses me how some people feel obligated to downplay and try to humiliate others on the intrawebs
My dude, I am probably old enough to be your father. I am gaming since i was 8 on a fcking tape machines. Trials in this game are anything but easy as f as you politely put it. It is tedious at the very least, immensively frustrating at worst. There is absolutely no real reason to put character progression behind such a tedious and to my taste badly designed part of the game. It is even worse that there are no real reason to do this besides unlocking ascendancy points - the rewards are just bad.
Yes when math is at your side and you have a fully functioned toon trials are rather easy, but its not about learning how to play its just outmathing the game. If you actually PLAY trials it is HARD. If you try first trial on a warrior lvl 22 you will eat your nails through your elbows, last boss will make you question your sanity.
So please go find some others source of epeening. Thnx.
Yeah, did it on warrior, it was easy. It is skill, which your rant clearly demonstrates.
Your pathing matters more than anything else. Understanding relics and using them is extremely important. Learning the mechanics of the different room types and how to beat them (or which you want to avoid). Avoiding afflictions that can brick your run (pathing plays into this heavily). Knowing when to go for a merchant and when to avoid them. Knowing when to take a pact and when not to. Knowing which boons are best for you and which are useless.

When you say “higher” levels are you meaning cruel difficulty?

No, the entry tokens you drop (or buy from other players). They have monster levels attached to them, and with them a number of floors (or rooms in ultimatum).
For Sekema I believe lvl 50 tokens are the start of 2 floor ones, which can be used for your 2nd set of points if you skip the trial of chaos.
During the acts the ascendencies generally aren't so massive that you need to do them right away (I've skipped the 2nd one until late 40's each time).

I apologize for my noob questions here, but are those tokens dropped by running the Sekema trial over and over? I feel like I haven’t see any of these tokens that you are speaking about.
Thanks again for the help.

Drop randomly from mobs as you play the game, anywhere in the game. For Sekema they are called Djinn Barya, for Trial of Chaos it is Inscribed Ultimatum.
