THE WORST GAMING EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE. Or in other words: The Ascendancy trials

I've only done the first one as I'm in act 3, but I've done it many times before finishing it, and then helping a friend finish it. It is the single worst thing in the game by far.

Who thought "lets stick a roguelike game in the middle of this ARPG where the difficulty is basically random?" was a good idea. Because seriously: it's not a good idea. The difficulty of Gauntlet is so far out of whack with everything else that it's nonsensical. Having runs that give you 3 debuffs in a row and other runs that don't give any makes no damn sense for a game like this. It's not a trial as in a test of skill: it's a test of patience until the random generator decides to be kind.

I've had runs in that trial that are super easy, barely an inconvenience. Rooms with buffs, easy rooms (aka: anything but Gauntlet), generally wondering what the big deal is.

Then other times you get one that is "every option is Gauntlet with a debuff, and we like it so much we're doing it again right after!" And Gauntlet just sucks. It's not fun, and certain things like "traps go faster" are really not fun.

I don't understand what anyone was thinking here.
Diablo 4 is now free to play. I would try that out because this is a pretty sad post.

This game doesn't have to be for you.

Could always pay for a carry if you can't hang
Step 1 is to self reflect.

Why dont you people just stop crying and start learning? Ascendancy trials are easy as fk.

always amuses me how some people feel obligated to downplay and try to humiliate others on the intrawebs

My dude, I am probably old enough to be your father. I am gaming since i was 8 on a fcking tape machines. Trials in this game are anything but easy as f as you politely put it. It is tedious at the very least, immensively frustrating at worst. There is absolutely no real reason to put character progression behind such a tedious and to my taste badly designed part of the game. It is even worse that there are no real reason to do this besides unlocking ascendancy points - the rewards are just bad.

Yes when math is at your side and you have a fully functioned toon trials are rather easy, but its not about learning how to play its just outmathing the game. If you actually PLAY trials it is HARD. If you try first trial on a warrior lvl 22 you will eat your nails through your elbows, last boss will make you question your sanity.

So please go find some others source of epeening. Thnx.

Writing a post like this while also saying you're older isn't doing what you think it's doing. You might be old but you never grew up. Clearly

So what level did you get past chaos trials and with what class? What are your key takeaways to complete it?

I’m a level 50 ranger and am getting stuck at the bird boss…what’s the strategy that I might be missing?
It a complete pain in the arse for me too, must have ripped 10-15 times trying now. In fact I went ahead and gave up and completed the Campaign and just made it to cruel act 1 last night. Im playing an infernalist minion master and Im having issues with all the ground mods and that bird puking blood on me kills me everytime..

I beat all the other bosses in the campaign just cant seem to make it past the Bird or that Lava Boss Mektul.

I dont understand the honor thing at all, I think I skipped that league on Poe1 so I dont know the lore behind it either..
In game since Minotaur League..

I have a recipe for you:

Take the worst and most frustrating gaming decisions in a single game and turn it into a "trial" in which you can lose "honor".

Traps, some of which you can't read? Check

Bad level design where you can't see around corners? Check

A boss who can knock you out with one punch? Check

Burdens and Disadvantages BY RANDOM GENERATOR? Check.

Disadvantages that can ruin the entire trial? Check

You can't do the test several times in a row because you need something that opponents drop far too rarely? Check

A test that lasts an hour, only to end up being even more unfair than it already is? Check

Enemies that shoot at you from a distance and enemies that do damage after death? Check

All in all, the worst gaming experience in my life.

This MUST be changed. It's just frustrating and absolutely disgusting.

1. Get rid of the damn “honor”
2. You should be able to repeat the test
3. You should not completely disadvantaged as a close-range fighter.
4. Why does this thing take a damn hour? Only to raise the middle finger at the end?

These ridiculous trials are absolutely terrible and I hope they are banned from the game immediately. This is my feedback for these really bad and frustrating decisions.

Or....and this is just a suggestion...
You can not interact with this mechanic and let those who enjoy it keep it as it is?
Right now myself and a few others I know (brother and his wife) are having problems with the Trial of Chaos. We basically skipped it and have started cruel difficulty.

I don’t think skipping it is the answer or being carried is the answer.

The game is great and not throwing the baby out with the bath water, but there might need to be some tuning of this trial.

They want everything handed to them, with zero effort or brain power required.

Sekema is in a pretty good place now, knowing how to play it even melee it's not hard to get your first points there.

Chaos is a bit rough, enough that I went back to Sekema for the 2nd set of points too. The quest version of Chaos could use a little tweaking, but after that it's fine.

Your 3rd set of points should be a little harder to get, and there is a 3rd method to ascend coming in the future acts.

The 4th set of points should be a damn achievement.

I agree Chaos does need some adjustment on the quest version of it, it's a bit rough. Later in the game it's very doable.

You can ignore it completely and just use Sekema for all of your points if you prefer. Later, when we get the rest of the acts, there will be a 3rd option as well.
